Did you know that YouthBuild was founded in New York by Dorothy Stoneman in 1978? That’s right, we’re international!🌎

Last week, our Youth Development Lead, Samii, got to experience the wonders of LA thanks to the team at , who took her to 4 of their sites so that she could get a feel for the work they do and the impact they have on their communities.

It’s safe to say she loved LA - but the best thing about this experience was being able to bring back so much inspiration to strengthen our programmes in the U.K tenfold, inline with the wider YB model of delivery.

Big shoutout to for being the best hosts, and for sharing so much knowledge and experience with our team🧡🤍💙

At YBVUK, whilst we love to bring light and laughter…we also cherish the emotional moments.

Capturing good work can be so difficult, in a world of numbers, percentages and impact stats. So, we wanted to share with you the truly meaningful feedback we received from our latest YB100 cohort.

You can’t put a number on a sense of community, belonging, motivation or growth. All of which we at YouthBuild put so much emphasis on as necessary parts of our Youth Partners sustained development.

Our Youth Partners are not just a workforce or a success story; they are human beings with so much to offer the world and we’re proud to say that they have graduated from this programme knowing that.

YB100 Cohort 21 - over and out✌🏻

Whilst impact statements are important, our Youth Partners know how to deliver real meaning behind their words…even at their silliest, so we couldn’t not share it.

Thank you to the Youth Partners on this programme for their commitment, energy and authenticity. They really do have so much to offer the world around them, and we can’t wait to see them shine✨

🔶🔷What is a Community Asset Build?🔷🔶

A Community Asset Build is based on the idea that every community has assets - whether that be schools, youth clubs, leisure centres, churches…the list goes on!

On our YB100 programme, each cohort has the opportunity to work on a Community Asset Build to put their learning into practice and this time, they collectively chose because of their deep connection to its history and what it offers young people in the local area.
The project is a real test of their team work, employability skills and resilience outside of just day-to-day programme and they smashed it!
