My February Solo Tour is approaching and tickets are getting low for several of these shows so you need to book yours now…
This isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, cramming into a small, twilit room to hear soft, sorrowful stories of love, loss and existential despair. This is a niche & exclusive club for the sad song lover who likes their sad songs even sadder than that. The reeeeally strong sad stuff. Do you like to hear all the air sucked out of the room by a single note? Do you want to be haunted by a lyric for weeks? Then these shows are for you, all tied up neatly with my razor sharp, dark wit and confrontationally demure charm

See you there if you dare

** SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - FIFTY VERSES RE-RELEASE **

Friday 4th October sees the digital re-release on Bandcamp of our debut CD, "Fifty Verses", now out of print in physical form.

We are releasing the album on Bandcamp Friday, here:
https://melrosequartet.bandcamp.com/

As you probably know by now, since lockdown, Bandcamp have given 100 percent of the sales to the artists for downloads bought on Bandcamp Fridays, usually the first Friday of a new month.

The debut 2013 release of Sheffield's beloved folk harmony and instrumental band Melrose Quartet saw a flurry of interest on the UK folk scene, and saw them nominated at the 2014 BBC Folk Awards for Best Group.

Every track on this album still appears in their live set from time to time, with particularly highly requested songs being Santa Georgia, Wedding Bells, Come and I Will Sing You, Tom Tolley's, and the sweepingly beautiful title track "Fifty Verses". Many of the tracks have also become staples of the band's now-legendary ceilidh set.

"Uniquely skilful arrangements that are both spellbinding and stimulating - Fifty Verses is an absolutely magnificent achievement." - Living Tradition

Please consider downloading this album this coming Friday, if you don't own a copy already, particularly if you have enjoyed streaming it over the last 11 years but would like to now acknowledge that in a way that truly benefits the band. :)

Thanks as ever for your continued support of Melrose Quartet. Hope to see you at a live event soon!

Nancy, Jess, Rich and James

Meanwhile, please enjoy the magnificent cover artwork by our long-term friend and collaborator, Lizzie Doe. It shows our beloved city of Sheffield, ever-changing but ever-green.
