The Robert Anderson Trust

The Robert Anderson Trust Helping the brightest and best to succeed. Registered charity no. 800617.

The Robert Anderson Trust provides the brightest and most talented young students and scholars with the opportunity to spend time in London in pursuit of their studies and research, through the provision of accommodation and financial support. Priority is given to those who stand to benefit most from a visit in terms of their work and future careers. Each year approximately 20 young men and women

are accommodated for a period of one month each, in the Trust’s two London houses in the historic districts of Highgate and Kensington respectively. Our visitors are often specialists in subjects in which the founder, Dr Anderson was actively involved, particularly classical music and Egyptology. Many come from countries with which Dr Anderson had particular connections, including Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Russia, Poland, Serbia, Bulgaria and Portugal. We encourage applications from specialists in all subjects, however, and from anywhere in the world.

EMAIL ISSUE and VISITORS PROGRAMME 2026

The Trust is currently experiencing an issue with its email servers which is preventing staff from sending messages. If you are expecting to hear from the Trust by email for any reason please accept our apologies as there may be a slight delay while we solve the problem.

In addition, for those who have applied to the Trust’s visitors’ programme, due to the high number of submissions received from Egyptologists this year, the selection process is taking longer than expected, and we will not now be able to let candidates know the outcome of their application until early March (no later than 6 March). We thank those concerned for their patience.

The Ivor Novello Award for Best Chamber Ensemble Composition goes to Anibal Vidal for ‘Invocación n.2: A Kintsugi Resurrection’! 🏆

Composed for trumpet and ensemble, it features a unique sound palette, extensively using toy instruments, objects and small percussion to broaden the sonority of the ensemble. The piece explores drama, oddness and humour.

The judges said: “Invocación n.2: A Kintsugi Resurrection is a piece that bursts with bold character, clever wit, and joyful originality. The composer demonstrates highly detailed craft and a brilliantly original voice.”

Congratulations .vidal.a!
