We just came across an eye-opening article in Business Daily by Mathangani Muya. It reminds us that deaf students in Kenya are still at risk of being left behind, even though progress has been made.
One of the biggest challenges? Education and training. There are over 30 schools for deaf students, but many still struggle with limited teacher capacity, scarce resources, and difficult transitions into higher education.
But it’s not all bleak. Institutions like The Karen Technical Training Institute are making a real difference, showing that change is possible.
There’s still a long way to go, but small steps are already helping to break barriers and create opportunities for the deaf community.
