🎶 Can music heal?

Marking World Mental Health Day, Session VI of our Music Across Borders Listening Club explores the centuries-old relationship between music, emotion and wellbeing across Anatolia and the wider region.

Moderated by musicologist and pianist Prof. Dr Mine Doğantan-Dack, Music as Healing journeys into the Seljuk and Ottoman darüşşifas, where music formed part of historical traditions of care.

Through curated recordings, guided listening and conversation, explore makam, rhythm and musical emotion, and discover how music, flowing water and architecture came together at the Bayezid II Complex in Edirne to create a distinctive healing environment.

Join us for an evening of listening, reflection and conversation on music, emotion and the mind.
