For me, one of them is reaching this moment. 10 years of World Afro Day®.
This September, we’re taking over Lower Stable Street at Coal Drops Yard, King's Cross, London for a 3-day street takeover to celebrate.

10 years of celebration, education and campaigning for Afro hair acceptance.
But I’ve been thinking about something bigger than the celebration.
What does success actually look like?
Over the past 10 years, we’ve spoken to people with Afro hair and people without it. The truth is, both groups have had to learn what Afro hair acceptance really means.
We’ve also surveyed more than 1,400 people, and I’m working on a report looking back at 10 years of progress, including the experiences of people with Afro hair in employment.
Because what does your company actually know about this issue?
I recently spoke to someone who had only just discovered World Afro Day®. She went on to speak with colleagues in corporate spaces and came back with a view that some people still believe we should simply conform to what is considered “professional” hair.
That really stayed with me.
If Afro hair is still being seen as unprofessional, even by some Black professionals, what are we doing to make sure the next generation doesn’t inherit the same ideas?
I believe the next generation matters.
We all have a part to play in making things better for them.
So, after 10 years of World Afro Day®, I’m still asking the question.
What will we change next?"
