This Juneteenth, we honor Dr. Opal Lee, whose decades of advocacy helped bring national recognition to the significance of June 19, 1865—the day the last enslaved people in the United States learned they were free.

As we commemorate Juneteenth, we reflect on the women like Dr. Lee whose leadership, persistence, and courage continue to move us toward a more equitable future.

IWF Uruguay held its first meeting last week!

This event brought together the editors of El País (Uruguay), La Nación (Argentina), Globo (Brazil), and El Mercurio (Chile) for a discussion titled On the Front Line: How the Media Constructs the Agenda in Latin America.
