Okay so found herself in the middle of Anthropy this week… back on her own stomping ground at Eden

A three-day gathering of emerging leaders, big thinkers, policy people, creatives, chaos agents… all circling around the idea of creating a “united” kingdom (lofty, but we’ll allow it)

And it really did feel like something worth stepping into

Moving through conversations on climate and systems change, soil and land, policy and food security, the manosphere and a talk called Hope Not Tate (great name)… with the odd drift into stone circles, heritage, and the deeper timelines running beneath it all

Not separate conversations, but overlapping ones
Different disciplines, languages, and ways of seeing the world - all meeting in the same space. With the main message was that we should all find something you care about, something bigger than yourself, and commit to it

No one came into those three days expecting to talk about fungi, but those conversations happened anyway.. (mainly because Dani won’t stop talking about it)

But also those conversations matter
For conservation, climate, food systems, pollution, medicine… not just for this country, but far beyond it

And when people are talking about resilience, connection, rebuilding… it’s already there. Just not always named

So, let’s see what grows from it!

Huge fungal love,
The Dish ❤️🍄

Special shout out to for screening the absolutely gorgeous and very important

Okay, so we got a bit better at taking photos and videos this time (because we actually remembered to), and we think they do reflect the fizzing fantastical fungal frolicking we co-facilitated in Oldbury Court’s clandestine chasms and moss-filled micro-habitats.

We expected a true core of dedicated and seasoned mycofolk to float through, and we were not disappointed with the 15 beautiful souls who popped up!

Soft, inclusive spores held safe in the sporocarps of our elders, the germination of ideas, plans and kinships were built, fusing like hyphal anastomosis that created a lovely, kind, resilient experience.

We love Bristol. We want to connect you further. Fill in our form and let us know if you’d like to host one yourself (linktree in our bio)!

Let’s build on our fun and ferment more funga folklore soon xo

Huge fungal love,
The Dish ❤️🍄

And here’s the next one!

We heading to Bristol for a twofer spring special we’re stoked to announce:

📍21st March

⏱️2-5pm

📌Part B - Myco-themed Merriment: The All Inn, Bristol
⏱️6-10pm

Part A: Fungi frolic

A casual exploration of fungi and friends, led by some experienced locals. We will likely be wandering around the wilderness so suit up in outdoor gear and bring your provisions of choice!

Here’s another round-up 🌿🍄

Loads of genuinely cool stuff available at the moment, from research roles and postdocs to conferences, bursaries and some very solid funding opportunities.

It feels like fungi are quietly, and not so quietly, popping up everywhere right now.

As always, if you’ve spotted a job, grant, residency, studentship, field role, workshop or anything vaguely fungal-adjacent that people should know about, please send it our way. We’re always happy to share and amplify good opportunities!

Big fungal love,
The Dish 🍄✨

We are terrible at taking photos and videos but we like to think we put on a great night. We definitely were not expecting over 30 people to turn up!! Truly wild and very lovely to see so many eager fungal enthusiasts all in one space. Huge thanks to everyone who helped make it happen and to Spore Supplies for the support 🍄

We’ve heard your feedback and are very excited to announce more dates, venues, locations (not just London!) and activities coming soon. Think walks, swims, workshops, meals, cafés, and whatever YOU want to see.

If you haven’t filled out the form yet, please take a moment to tell us about your experience and let us know if you’d like to host one yourself (linktree in our bio). And of course a massive THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who came along, and to those who wanted to and will be there next time.

Big fungal love,
The Dish ❤️🍄

Expect a relaxed, low-pressure evening for fungi-minded folk and early-career mycologists, with a Show & Share at the heart of it.

This one’s a bit of a feeler - we’re currently finalising the venue and time (it’ll be daytime, somewhere in London), but we wanted to put the word out and see who might be up for it 👀

The plan is a relaxed, low-pressure gathering for fungi-minded folk and early-career mycologists, with a Show & Share at the heart of it.
Bring a project, a poem, a specimen, a question, something you’ve been thinking about… or absolutely nothing at all if you just want to come along and meet some new people!

It’ll be free, with tickets released once the venue and timing are locked in.

This is the first of many meet-ups we’re hoping to grow this year, and we’ll also be sharing a short survey soon so you can help shape where future ones happen - and even let us know if you’d be interested in hosting one yourself.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to drop us a message 💬
More details coming next week… this is just the beginning!

Like any good mycelial network, we’ve been growing underground for a while.

The Culturing Dish is back, and 2026 is shaping up to be a good one. We’ve been putting solid foundations in place, from forming a board and committee to mapping out what this next phase really looks like.

Over the coming months we’ll be hosting myco meet-ups, online sessions, panels and storytelling, alongside new resources, an expanding fungi directory, and more walks, talks and forays.

We’ll be sharing the details of our very first meet-up tomorrow, plus a short survey so you can help shape where future events happen, and even get involved in hosting.

We’ll also be popping up at festivals this summer and autumn, with plenty more to come.

Thanks for sticking with us - we’re really glad to be back and excited to share what’s coming!

We’ve noticed a lot of brilliant opportunities emerging lately - from fieldwork and research posts to early-career training and upcoming calls. So we thought we’d start gathering them here in one place.

Each month we’ll share a small collection of jobs, courses, and chances to get involved across the fungi world and wider environmental sector - a growing map for anyone working (or hoping to work) in this field.

If you know of anything we should include next time, send it our way. Tag us, message us, or email. We’re always happy to help share things through the network.

Tag anyone who might be looking or dreaming of their next move!

Thanks,

The Culturing Dish 🍄
