Khuti Pujo marks the start of London Sharad Utsav 2026 🪔

London Sharad Utsav, organised by Bengal Heritage Foundation, held its Khuti Pujo on Saturday. Traditionally, Khuti Pujo marks the auspicious beginning of Durga Pujo preparations.

Members turned up beautifully dressed for the occasion. The afternoon began with tea, coffee, cold drinks and spicy Muri, moved on to plenty of adda, and ended with Biriyani.

Breakout sessions and small-group discussions were held across all areas, where each team got into detailed planning for this year's Utsav.

Now it's on to rehearsals and final preparations. The team looks forward to welcoming everyone to London Sharad Utsav at Gunnersbury Park, 16–18 October! 🙏

🎶 PADAVALI: A Tradition of Bengal 🎶

Step into the soul of Bengal's devotional heritage for an evening of music, poetry, and history.

The Nehru Centre London and the High Commission of India, in association with the Bengal Heritage Foundation, are delighted to present a documentary screening and live concert by acclaimed vocalist Debolina Ghosh.

Padavali kirtan is one of Bengal's most treasured musical traditions. Rooted in medieval Vaishnava poetry by poets such as Vidyapati, Chandidas and Govindadas, these lyrical songs of love and longing have been sung for centuries to the rhythm of the khol. Through film and live performance, Debolina brings this timeless art form to life, tracing its history and sharing its enduring beauty with a London audience.

📅 Wednesday, 21st October 2026
🕡 18:30 – 20:00
📍 The Nehru Centre, 8 South Audley Street, Mayfair, London W1K 1HF

Whether you grew up with these melodies or are discovering them for the first time, this is an evening not to be missed. Bring your friends and family!
