Soma hŌṃe — Artist Statement & Context
Founded by artist and designer Rachel Wingfield, Soma hŌṃe is a multidisciplinary temple and living artwork situated in Stoke Newington, London. The project extends Wingfield’s two decades of research at the intersection of light, architecture, and human wellbeing — a practice that spans from her early circadian lighting innovations to large-scale public installations held in the collections of MoMA New York and Bloomberg London.
Evolving from her earlier studio, Loop.pH, Soma hŌṃe represents a shift from speculative design toward embodied, regenerative practice. It explores how spatial art, sacred geometry, and immersive environments can serve as contemporary forms of ritual and collective healing. The temple operates simultaneously as a creative laboratory, wellness sanctuary, and community gathering place — bridging ancient wisdom traditions with the language of contemporary art and environmental science.
Through sound journeys, participatory installations, and sensory workshops, Wingfield investigates how rhythm, resonance, and light can restore coherence to body and mind, reconnecting participants with natural cycles in an urban context. Her work proposes a living model for sustainable, inclusive, and spiritually grounded cultural practice.
