ReSpace Projects

ReSpace Projects We enable communities and groups to tackle social problems with a proven innovative system that re-uses empty buildings and wasted resources intelligently.

ReSpace Projects transforms underused buildings into thriving community assets across London. As an award-winning social enterprise, we specialise in circular economy practices that turn urban waste into opportunity whilst reducing inequality and rebuilding community connections. From the legendary Hive Dalston to the innovative REinstate project at the Tate Institute, we create spaces where artis

ts, entrepreneurs, and residents collaborate for lasting change. Our proven methodology - reusing waste, reducing inequality, rebuilding community - ensures those who benefit least from urban development gain first access to opportunities. We work alongside communities to cultivate ecosystems of creativity, enterprise, and connection. Through sustainable construction, arts programming, and local economic development, we're demonstrating that community-led regeneration creates more resilient neighbourhoods. Every project is a stepping stone toward scaling impact and sharing knowledge with communities worldwide.

What a journey so far 🚀♻️🔥

Here’s a little glimpse into the life of the wonderful 😻

In just over a year we’ve transformed this derelict social club into a thriving community venue… now complete with a shiny new roof, solar panels, a rat and pigeon-free ‘great hall’ (no rats or pigeons were harmed) and a very exciting future!

Unlike any other redevelopment project, local communities have been at the heart of everything we do from the very beginning. During the construction phase we held very popular ‘hard hat tours’ for local people, and before the renovation was even complete the building hosted all manner of events from bbqs, music nights and heritage celebrations, to workshops for DJing and using natural fabric dyes. We like to keep things varied 😅🎶🎤👷🏽‍♂️

The needs of local communities are at the very core of our work and we feel passionately that our projects should benefit everyone, instead of hitting the usual social barriers which often mean community engagement ends up benefitting only the more privileged sectors of society or communities.

This project has fully taken over our lives - and it’s a real honour to be so welcomed by the fantastic local communities here in Silvertown.

A huge thank you to our incredible crew - and all who have worked with us to create this visionary project so far 🥰 Special shout out to the incredible project leader who has had perhaps one day off in over a year 🫣😅

Empty buildings... what's the first thing that comes to mind?

Probably not 'a billion-pound problem,' right?

🤯 But that's precisely what the UK is grappling with: over 617,000 vacant buildings costing a fortune to maintain. What if we could not only solve that problem, but turn these spaces in something truly amazing?

At ReSpace, that's exactly what we do. We take those forgotten spaces and transform them into vibrant community hubs - shared studios, housing solutions, enterprise spaces for testing business ideas, community kitchens tackling food waste, and cultural venues where people gather and connect.

We do this in as cost-effective a way as possible by utilising otherwise-wasted resources - whether it be delicious M&S food, Soccer Saturday's, furniture or building materials from nearby construction sites, we're turning what's wasted into abundance that addresses employment, food security, and social isolation.
It's a proven model that has saved significant money and kept massive amounts of waste out of landfill!

Want to see our methodology in action? Come visit us at our latest project, REinsTate Project (the Tate Institute) in Silvertown! We're transforming this historic landmark into a living, breathing 'Human Enterprise Zone.' We'd love to show you what's possible when we rethink waste.
