INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS SOCIETY (IHRS)

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

The International Human Rights Society (IHRS) is closely monitoring reports concerning demonstrations, youth activism, and public protests taking place in India.

IHRS does not take a position on political parties, political movements, or electoral matters. However, we reaffirm that all individuals are entitled to the protection of their fundamental human rights and freedoms.

The rights to freedom of opinion and expression, peaceful assembly, and association are recognised under international human rights standards and should be respected and protected. Individuals who participate in peaceful protests should be able to do so without fear of unlawful violence, intimidation, or arbitrary restrictions.

At the same time, all participants in public demonstrations should exercise their rights peacefully and responsibly, respecting the rights, safety, and dignity of others.

IHRS calls upon all authorities to act in accordance with the rule of law, ensure due process, and uphold equality before the law. Any allegations of excessive use of force, arbitrary detention, or violations of fundamental rights should be investigated promptly, impartially, and transparently.

We encourage all stakeholders to pursue dialogue, democratic engagement, and peaceful solutions that uphold human dignity, justice, and fundamental freedoms.

Human Dignity • Justice • Fundamental Freedoms

International Human Rights Society (IHRS)

The International Human Rights Society (IHRS) strongly condemns the killing of innocent citizens by armed forces in the recent events in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The right to life, liberty and security of person (Article 3, Universal Declaration of Human Rights) is a fundamental human right and must be respected at all times.

We also condemn any mistreatment, harassment, or disrespect towards women and children and call for their protection and dignity to be upheld.

IHRS urges the authorities to engage with citizens through dialogue and good-faith negotiations rather than force. Citizens should not be labelled as terrorists without due process. Every individual is entitled to equality before the law (Article 7), the right to a fair hearing (Article 10), freedom of opinion and expression (Article 19), and freedom of peaceful assembly and association (Article 20).

We call for an independent investigation into all reported deaths and alleged human rights violations and urge all parties to pursue peaceful, democratic, and lawful solutions that respect human dignity, justice, and fundamental freedoms.
