Today we joined squadrons from across the Wing to compete in the annual Drill Competition!

The competition had been postponed due to the high temperatures we saw earlier in the summer. The cadets kept practising and came to the competition in good spirits. For some, this was their first time and a little nervous but once on the drill square, they all put 100% effort and forgot about their nerves.

Well done to all who took part!

Over the summer, 2 of our cadets went to annual camp at RAF Waddington. Whilst there, they had the opportunity to meet an ex 328 cadet, and learn about their experience in the RAF.

Volunteer Opportunities:

As our Squadron grows, we need a larger team to support our Cadets.

We are currently looking for adult volunteers both as instructors and supporting staff, to start in the Autumn term.

Previous Cadet or military experience is not needed, though if you have that knowledge we can put it to good use!

We provide a comprehensive training package, including the option to gain recognised external qualifications.

Last weekend 3 members of the Sqn took part in the Armed Forces Day Parade at Guildford Cathedral, joining cadets from across the Wing, plus the ACF and SCC.
After a service inside the Cathedral, the cadets were then inspected and completed the parade by doing a march past.
A great turnout across the board.

With the sun out it’s the perfect time to do some Duke of Edinburgh's Award training. Last weekend one of our cadets and staff joined 1254 (Godalming) Squadron Air Cadets and 11F Brooklands Sqn - Royal Air Force Air Cadets to learn the practical skills for a DofE expedition.
Navigating around the Surrey Hills to hone their map reading, they followed a route back to the campsite, where they then pitched their tents and cooked their dinners.
The cadets had an enjoyable evening playing uno before camping out.

Last week 2 of our cadets had the opportunity to take their first Air Experience Flight (AEF).
They got fly near Stone Henge and admire the views, as well as trying some aerobatics, both got to take control of the aircraft under guidance of their pilot.

Once back on the ground, they couldn’t wipe the smiles from their faces.
‘Incredible experience, did 2 loops, stall turns and a Cuban 8. Feeling 0G was my favourite - it was really cool!’ Cdt H
‘Amazing, absolutely fantastic. It was really surreal. Got to control the aircraft twice’ - Cdt H

Last weekend 2 of our NCOs were taking part in their Bronze DofE expedition across the Surrey Hills. Joining cadets from 11F Brooklands Sqn - Royal Air Force Air Cadets and 219 Sutton & Cheam Squadron ATC, they spent their exped looking at historical sites across the North Downs. Upon finishing their route on the second day, they presented their finds to their assessor.
A great weekend demonstrating some of the skills they have picked up in cadets; team work, communication and navigation.
Well done to all who took part!
