Through autumn 2025, Community Apothecary continued our fruitful collaborative relationship with in Walthamstow, a space whose aim is to support under-served community members in our locality. With appreciated support from a grant from we offered a 6-week programme of participatory learning, Food is Medicine, delivered by our facilitator Elise of , with a lively group of elders who shared intercultural knowledge of healing foods and herbs, much enjoyment and learning for us all.
We plan for further synergy between our two organisations and with Higham Hill Hub’s new eco-build in progress we’re excited for new activities and workshops this will enable as we move further into 2026. This new calendar year we will be carrying on with the Community Growers project at the Hub, a weekly Tuesday gardening session with all locals welcome to join for company, horticultural learning and herby goodness. Get in touch with us if you’d like more info about these sessions

We also thank the young people and our community gardening group. You built the growing infrastructure. You grow and maintain it week by week. Your work supports these workshops and ongoing herbal and medicinal learning. Produce now supports activity across the borough. It reaches community workshops and free food bank donations.

Repost Wipers Youth CSCS Workshop
Another strong session with young people this week at . They learned core plastering skills and moved closer to their CSCS cards. These cards allow them to work on construction sites. 🚧🛠️

Sitting at the centre of our partnership with , COG Cycling and partners is a philosophy to support young people to gain new skills. This work now elevates as we provide real work experience linked to the new community hub being constructed on site.

More planned as the build moves forward.

Repost from Community Apothecary

Community Apothecary, Higham Hill Hub, Blackmoon Ceremonies and the Hub’s Community Growers invite local residents to a winter gathering. Neighbours gather to share food and spend time in a space shaped by local hands as the garden and grounds prepare for the new eco community Hub. You explore seasonal produce and enjoy treats made from plants grown by the community and groups on site.

You join for festive nourishment and connection with seed sharing, sensory herbal tea tasting, visioning for the next year and time together to eat and drink.

This year’s Arts & Crafts Christmas Market will take place at Priory Court while the new Hub is being built. We’ve subsidised and supported the market each year and are proud to continue backing local organiser and champion Espe for her commitment and community spirit.

We look forward to seeing all the local makers in action again this weekend and welcoming the market back to the new, fit-for-purpose Hub next year and celebrating more local creativity together.

We are pleased to share that, thanks to successful fundraising, Phase 1 building works for the new Higham Hill Hub hempcrete development, located within the former bowling green next to the park, will begin next week.

This first phase will deliver the main Hub building, creating a centre for activities, learning, and events that generations of residents will be able to use. Completion is anticipated by summer 2026.

There may be some disruption during the works, and we will do our best to keep this to a minimum. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The Hub portacabin and a small part of the outdoor area will remain open throughout the works for community sessions, and the space will remain available for hire (accessible via the yellow gates).

Many of you have got in touch to offer your congratulations, ideas, encouragement, or further contributions. We are very grateful for this and want to build further on it together. Please bear with us, as the Hub is a charity run by local volunteers and residents. If you would like to help, please do get in touch.

Our aim has always been to create a space that brings more value, activities, and opportunities for the neighbourhood. Young people have asked for a safe place to eat, learn, study, and join youth clubs. Elders want a place to meet, share board games, and connect. Families and residents of all ages have asked for more activities and events throughout the year. This new Hub will help make those things possible.

With appreciation for your support along the journey.

What a Summer! Huge thanks to every brilliant young person who took part in this year’s Youth Summer Zone & SEND Summer Zone at with Creative Engagement Services , PinPoint & -SEND

From podcasting to COG Cycling & mechanics, sports, arts, crafts, music-making, LEGO therapy and sensory play. Your energy, creativity and laughter shaped every day.

We know we couldn’t accommodate everyone who registered this time and that’s why we’re so excited about what’s next…

Next summer, we’ll be running our partnership summer programme from the new, bigger and accessible Higham Hill Hub building, with space to double the number of young people we support.

This summer was just a glimpse of what’s possible in Higham Hill.

Huge thanks to all partners, youth workers, families, and most of all the young people who reminded us exactly why this work matters.

Well done to all the young people involved. This is what impact looks like.

Projects like this are exactly why we’re building the new Higham Hill Hub, so more young people have access to real skills, real support, and real opportunities to make change.

A space for skills. A space for purpose. A space where young people learn, build, and give back.

COG – The Link Mechanics Partnership Project 🚲
What began as hands-on training for local teenagers has turned into real-world impact.
Supported by our COG mechanics, young people have learned to fix, rebuild, and restore second-hand bikes for a new purpose.
Now this van is packed and ready with bikes heading to children in Africa, where a bike means access to education, freedom, and opportunity.
Thank you to every young person who stepped up. And to Higham Hill Hub for backing the project, creating the pilot spaces, securing funding, and making this possible.

This is skill-sharing.
This is youth development.
This is how we link communities.
