Now that I’ve (somewhat!) recovered from what was an incredible day, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated and supported me through this challenge.

Running 42 miles was never going to be easy, but it’s something I’m incredibly proud to have completed. Looking back at the journey – from my first feeble mile (and feeling completely knackered afterwards) to managing 42 – it’s something I’ll always carry with a real sense of pride.

In many ways, the challenge felt fitting. Overcoming addiction isn’t easy either. It’s long, tough, and sometimes feels impossible… but it can be done. This run reminded me of that.

The work that Backup - The Technical Entertainment Charity does to support people in the technical entertainment industry — one of the toughest industries out there — is genuinely incredible. Every penny raised will go towards helping people who may be in the position I found myself in a couple of years ago. Not everyone has the support network I’ve been lucky enough to have, but Backup makes sure people don’t have to face things alone.

Not every day is easy. But every day is another step forward.

If this run proves anything, I hope it’s that no matter what you’re dealing with — in whatever form that struggle takes — things can change.

Look after the people around you, even the ones who seem like they’re doing just fine. You never really know what someone might be carrying. And if you’re struggling yourself, just remember: you’re never on your own.

For now, that’s me out… but I’ll be back.
Maybe at Waters Edge Marsworth on the 12th April 👀

To everyone who supported me — from the bottom of my heart, thank you. 🙏

Jack Gomm "The Running Tech" has officially crossed the finish line, completing an incredible 42 mile run in support of Backup 💙

On 28 March 2026, Jack set out from his childhood home to where he lives today, driven by a powerful mission to support technicians and entertainment industry professionals facing addiction and mental health challenges.

It’s nearly here, and here’s the route I’ll be running Saturday if anyone wants to give me a cheer (or run with me 🤔🤣) - it’s long, but it’s all worth it - please keep donating to - Link in Bio! 👌

20 miles in the bank today, running down and around one of my favourite places — Richmond Park 🏃‍♂️🌳

This is probably the last big long run before the challenge… in just 2 weeks I’ll be running 40 miles. It’s starting to feel very real now.

If you want to be part of the day:

📍 Send off: 9AM at The Village Swan – they’ll have tea and coffee ready.
📍 Finish line (hopefully!): Around 19:00 at The Trafalgar Arms

It would be amazing to see some friendly faces at the start or the finish 🙌

We’re on the final push for donations, so please keep sharing and donating via the link in my bio. Let’s make these miles count 💙

Jack Gomm , aka “The Running Tech”, taking on an incredible challenge to support our industry.

On 28th March 2026, Jack will run 40 miles from his childhood home in Ivinghoe Aston, Buckinghamshire to his current home in Tooting – all to raise funds for technicians and entertainment professionals facing mental health challenges and addiction.

Already, Jack has raised nearly £2,607, and he's not stopping there! Every pound helps make a difference. As he says: “It’s a big challenge, but the important part is that it’s already helping raise funds and awareness for a charity doing vital work in one of the toughest industries out there. Knowing the support is reaching the right people will make every mile worth it.”

Jack has been part of the live events world as Project Manager at Perception Live for two years, and both Backup and his company have been proud to support him, helping spread the word about this vital fundraiser.

Show your support, follow his journey, and donate here: https://backup-challenge-fundraiser.raiselysite.com/jack-henry

Let’s cheer Jack on as he runs for the people who keep our shows running.

This felt great! Really good to be getting back, and happier I have the chance to do some longer runs - especially around these sort of areas!

I so enjoyed being back last night - great vibes, great people and an all round fantastic evening!

Thank you so much to Penny and Steve at The Village Swan for having me 🥰

I love a bit of a rabbit hole - a guy called Vasiliy Lukin once ran a marathon in –53°C in Russia 😳
Cold, pain, fear — all mental.
My run today was easy compared to that.😂

We hit the £2,500 target while I’d gone a bit quiet.
Big thanks to everyone who supported along the way — it’s really appreciated.
Onwards we go…
🎯 New target: £5,000 🏃‍♂️
