Every year New Acropolis holds an annual conference for its teachers and leaders from across the world to come together in a spirit of unity. This year the meeting was held in Antigua, Guatemala.

These meetings are less about reports and statistics than about sharing experiences and insights from the five different continents. This helps us to understand the global perspective of our philosophical movement and how we can better serve the communities where we are.

A big ‘thank you’ to the volunteers of New Acropolis in Guatemala who made this possible and who gave a beautiful example of philosophy in action.

On Saturday we hosted a community event in Compton Terrace gardens, Islington to celebrate 🌱🌍

We discovered new worlds of animal, insect and plant life, right here our doorstep. 🐜🐞We spent time enjoying the garden, taking moments of stillness in nature and exploring our creativity with painting, weaving, drawing and treasure hunts. 🧚💫

Today is International Mother Earth Day 2026 established by UNESCO in 2009 with the aim of reminding us that the individual and collective decisions of human beings have repercussions on planet Earth.

New Acropolis has been supporting this initiative for several years, promoting the valuable role philosophy has in finding practical solutions to our collective challenges and working together to bring about positive change.

Timeless wisdom reminds us that we depend on nature for our survival, and that with our power to shape our environment comes the duty to act as stewards of nature.

Join us on Saturday 25 April, from 11 am till 4 pm, for a joyful celebration of International Mother Earth Day in Compton Terrace Gardens, in front of Union Chapel.

Discover the trees, plants, animals and insects that share our space, and learn about their usefulness, symbolism and medicinal properties. Enjoy homemade cakes, tea and coffee while supporting the wonderful work of the gardening team. With games and activities for children, this is a relaxed, family-friendly event connecting with nature and community.

As a symbol the egg is associated with potential, fertility and transformation. Many traditions held the belief of the universe itself existed in the shape of an egg at the beginning. It is an important symbol too for resurrection and going through events that ‘crack us open’ but help us go beyond our limitations into new cycles.

This image shows the birth of Mithras from an egg. Here Mithras is the creator who breaks through the egg and then becomes the mediator between the opposites (heaven and earth) and can hold them together to reconcile the polarity.
