Courts are busy again this week, as sabs from our affiliated groups continue to get hunts into court…

This Tuesday, sees a visit to Colchester Magistrates from Rhys Matcham, huntsman of the Puckeridge and Essex Hunt who was recorded and reported by East Herts Sabs in January this year.

Matcham is followed on Wednesday by a trip to Bristol Magistrates court for three members of the Duke of Beaufort Hunt, huntsman Will Bryer, whipper-in Mitch Prosser and terrierman Anthony Tuck, all charged with offences relating to the killing of a fox in December 2025 filmed by Wiltshire Hunt Saboteurs.

Both cases are first hearings, the Beauforts earlier plea hearing was adjourned till this week. Give the two groups a follow to stay updated on the outcomes.

East Herts Sabs secured a Community Protection Warning (CPW) for the second time against the Puckeridge & Essex Hunt which was announced last week following months of evidence of anti-social behaviour gathered by sabs, meanwhile Essex Police also confirmed last week that the Puck’s huntsman, Rhys Matcham was charged with illegal hunting and will face Colchester magistrates court on Tuesday 4th August. The hunting incident occurred in January 2026, and was also reported by East Herts Sabs.

Yesterday, as Northants Hunt Saboteurs demonstrated against the Cottesmore Hunt raising money to fund illegal and cruel fox hunting, a hunt supporter leapt out of her car attacking one of the demonstrators, trying to break the camera and eventually settling on attempting to strangle him.

As hunts become more and more isolated from civilised society, so they become more and more unhinged and violent.

It’s starting…the start of cubbing season has begun, many hunts will be out in the coming days and weeks looking for little fox cubs to train their new hounds on.

The horror of stag hunting for trophies begins today.

Mature stags are now being targeted, forced to run to exhaustion in sweltering heat on arid land, chased by dogs and by humans who will be squealing in delight on horseback and quads.

To be clear, this isn’t research and observation, trail hunting, or rescue of injured animals. It’s not even culling, or “conservation”. This is pure unabridged bloodlust rewarded with body parts for the those who take part in the cruellest of all hunts.

Good luck to all sabs out to stop them over the coming weeks.

Well done East Herts Sabs 👏🏼.

Sabs have secured a hunting charge for the huntsman, and a second Community Protection Warning for the hunt.

The recent British Hound Sports Association (BHSA) annual “Festival of Hounds” which took place a couple of weeks ago, wasn’t just an opportunity for convicted fox hunts to showcase their hounds and win prizes for their hare and fox killing dogs, but it also provided an opportunity for DWP staff to provide advice and help new claimants make a transition into actual work for the first time in their lives following on from the government announcement to ban the “trail hunting” smokescreen.

We hear the DWP’s festival stall was so busy, that it surely goes some way to explaining the dismal turn out at Ben Wallace’s speech in the field next door.

Follow the 🔗 in the comments to read about how this BHSA event awarded prizes to one “cruel and illegal hare hunt”
