POPPY ARMY - THANKS

Final Poppy Army post, to thank every single person who made and donated poppies.

Wendy Power, Jean Mahy and the committee of Friends of Southwood Park were overwhelmed with the incredible response, the crafters, the help attaching, the installation team joined together in magnificent fashion.

We were able to share with New Eltham Christmas Lights group to extend the community involvement.

Grateful thanks to CANE for agreeing to store the cascade for future use.

How wonderful to join with All Saints Church for a fitting Remembrance Sunday service.

It has been a pleasure to see so many people taking photos and to receive so many positive compliments

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY (TOMORROW)

Remembrance Sunday 9th November

We are joining with All Saints Church New Eltham

10:45 at Southwood Park for blessing of the cascade by Rev Annette, prayers, Last Post, the 2 minute silence, Reveille will be observed simultaneously with the war memorial at All Saints Church with the curate for those who cannot walk.
Move down Bercta Road to join the New Eltham War Memorial, wreath laying, followed by tea and cakes in the church hall

It's in place, installed in Southwood Park, thanks to volunteers this morning.
A celebration of all the people who knitted, crocheted, cut felt, foam and bottles. New Eltham has a cascade to be proud of.

I have a confession to make.
We had been recording the names of everyone who donated poppies. Left the pad on my garden table, as I had used a gel pen, a lot of names got obliterated. I am so sorry.
We have appreciated every single poppy given, we are nearing the end of attaching them for a complete display.

The Poppy attaching has been mainly happening in 2 houses, now the two large sections are one. Still finishing and shaping but the major work is in one piece.

Wendy Power took on the giant task of joining, putting in marathon sessions draping the cascade over tables & chairs.

Hoping, weather permitting to install the cascade next weekend, to give everyone plenty of time to go and see it.
