Wild Wolf ESU

Wild Wolf ESU Our 80-strong Unit of 14-17 year olds meets in North London on Tuesdays. Hiking, canoeing, kayaking, climbing & DofE - you name it, we do it.

Wild Wolf Explorer Scout Unit is a mixed group of 14 to 17 year olds, who meet once a week as part of the Scout Movement. We have around 80 members and the Unit is led by a team of dedicated volunteers. We are based at Scout Park in Bounds Green, North London. As well as our weekly meetings, we run regular camps to places all over the UK and abroad. We are committed to running an exciting programm

e of adventurous activities including canoeing, hiking, climbing and camping. We help our members to work towards awards such as the King’s Scout Award and all levels of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, travelling hundreds of miles on expeditions every year!

This week we kicked off the term with a range of icebreakers and a quiz to get to know our new members to the Unit before a couple of our Explorers taught the rest of us some traditional Scottish dances!
If you haven’t already, we would also really appreciate any donations towards our WWESU Minibus funding, the link is in our Linktree. Thank you to everyone who has donated and helped fundraiser so far!

Help get WWESU back on the road! 🚐⛰️

If you’ve enjoyed following our adventures then you’ll know that they’re all made possible by our much-loved minibus. However sadly our minibus has now reached the end of its life so we are fundraising to buy a new one, and would really appreciate your support!

Having our own minibus makes a huge difference, and means we are able to get to camps safely and affordably. If we can’t buy a new minibus then we will either have to increase the cost of camps (to fund commercial hire), or reduce the number of Explorers who can participate. We don’t want either of those to happen, so are running a fundraising campaign for a new minibus.

All Explorers and Leaders are carrying out individual and group fundraising, but we are also asking for support from our wider community through our JustGiving page below.

If you are able to support us then we would be so grateful for any donation that you feel able to give!

And if you’re not able to donate then we’d really appreciate it if you could consider sharing this post so we can reach as many people as possible.

With thanks from everyone at Wild Wolf ESU.

Today two of our Leaders attended the London Adventure Conference, organised by London Region Scouts. It was great to hear about all the adventurous activities taking place in Scouting across the Region, and to speak to fellow volunteers and staff from HQ about how we can get more young people taking part in these activities and ensure they are done safely. 🧗‍♀️🛶🏔️

This week the Patrols went head to head in honour of Pancake Day last week to see who could make the best pancakes. Each Patrol had to work as a team to build fires and make pancakes, their pancakes were then presented to our Leaders for judging with the winners being Puffin Patrol!

It’s been a busy few weeks for paddlesports at WWESU! Over the last two weekends, our Team Leader has achieved his Open Water Canoe Coach qualification, and completed the training for White Water Canoe Coach. One of our other Leaders also attended both courses as a mock student. Our Leaders regularly work towards qualifications with National Governing Bodies like to further expand the activities that we can offer to our young people!
