CBRL is seeking a part-time Archive Assistant to join the team at the CBRL Kenyon Institute in East Jerusalem.

The successful candidate will support the digitisation, cataloguing and documentation of archival materials, including photographs, slides and documents.

Start date: 1 November 2026
Contract: 3 months | 2 days per week

[ CBRL–PEF UK Book Launch ]
Peasant Agriculture in the Jerusalem Hills

CBRL and The Palestine Exploration Fund (PEF) are pleased to invite you to the launch of Peasant Agriculture in the Jerusalem Hills, by Lucjan Turkowski, edited by Carol Palmer.

Drawing on Turkowski’s research during the final years of the British Mandate, the book offers a detailed account of Palestinian fellahin and rural life in the Jerusalem hills, exploring agricultural practices, animal management, craft production, local knowledge and material culture.

The volume also brings together Turkowski’s writings, drawings, photographs and field observations, alongside botanical illustrations by F. Nigel Hepper.

As part of CBRL’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships in digital heritage, Dr Jane Humphris, CBRL's Director, visited The Hashemite University in Jordan, accompanied by Dr Fatma Marii, Mr Firas Bqa'in, and Eng. Shatha Mubaideen from the CBRL Amman Institute. The visit focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in research, digital heritage initiatives, and student engagement.

Dr Jane Humphris, Director of the Council for British Research in the Levant (CBRL), visited the University of Jordan alongside Dr Fatma Marii and Mr Firas Bqa'in from the CBRL Amman Institute to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in scientific research and student training.

The meeting explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration between the University of Jordan and CBRL through joint research initiatives, academic partnerships, and capacity-building opportunities for students.

CBRL looks forward to building on this collaboration and supporting research excellence in Jordan and the wider Levant.
