🇬🇧🇺🇦At a time when the consequences of the war continue to shape millions of lives, voices for justice once again rose in the heart of London.

📍On Saturday, 21 February, people gathered at the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain in Piccadilly Circus to mark the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The peaceful protest brought together members of the Ukrainian community, British allies, activists and supporters united by a shared demand: accountability and justice.

The event served as both a moment of remembrance and a renewed call to action. Speakers addressed the crowd with powerful testimonies, underscoring that four years on, the war continues to shape millions of lives.

The rally concluded with a clear message voiced by participants: unpunished evil only grows. Protesters demanded the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and called for full accountability for Russia’s crimes under international law👨🏻‍⚖️

A play set in occupied Ukraine is currently running at in London. It received extensive coverage (from ), won an award, and left audiences feeling like they’d encountered something complex and important — “nothing is ever that simple,” you know the feeling.

We read the script. And were disappointed.

The play trivialises the occupation, the war, the Ukrainian identity. Now, when Ukraine is being pressured to cede land in the name of “peace,” the misrepresenting of what occupation actually means is dangerous.

Pre-2022 Donbas was not simply “less bombed.” There were no rules, no certainty — only kidnappings, torture, disappearances. This is what occupation means. This is what “freezing the conflict” means.

Following criticism from Ukrainian audiences, Ukrainian comments were removed and the comment section was disabled. A public statement was then released which characterised the response from Ukrainians as harassment rather than engaging with the concerns that had been raised while the production continues to be promoted.

Ask :
* why Ukrainian comments were removed?
* why discussion was disabled?
* why concerns from Ukrainians were publicly framed as harassment instead of being addressed?

Cultural institutions must be open to accountability. Especially when representing countries currently under military occupation.

Piccadilly Circus, W1J 9HS

At a time when so-called peace negotiations are taking place - including open bargaining over Ukrainian land - the human cost of Russia's war is being sidelined. Occupation, destruction, power cuts, shelling and advancing frontline continue to define daily life for people in Ukraine. We believe it is vital to demand a just peace for Ukraine and accountability for Russia's war crimes.

Our message is clear: Unpunished evil grows. Russian troops out!

14 February — World Wide Call for Iran

Every weekend, people take to the streets to support Iranians demanding freedom and justice. This support is not fading - it is becoming more visible and more consistent. It is driven by anger at injustice and by the knowledge of how many lives have already been lost.

On 14 February, as part of the World Wide Call for Iran, protests in support of Iran’s people will take place in many countries around the world. This is a global response to repression, violence, and terror.

We stand with Iran’s people because injustice cannot be ignored, and because what is tolerated today comes back with greater force tomorrow.

UK insurers backed €15bn of Russian coal exports last year — keeping Moscow’s shipments flowing to third countries despite sanctions, according to an investigation by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) and Montel News.

Labour MP Alex Sobel MP calls it “deeply alarming” and urges an immediate ban on UK insurance for Russian hydrocarbons.

The finding points to a largely unexamined gap in the UK’s sanctions architecture – while the UK has used its dominance in maritime insurance to constrain Russian oil and gas exports, coal remains effectively untouched.

As President Volodymyr Zelensky warned in Davos, when democracies hesitate, authoritarian regimes grow bolder.

The Iranian regime’s repression at home - and its support for Russia’s war against Ukraine - show that this is not a regional issue, but a global one.
Ignoring this aggression today means facing its consequences tomorrow.

Ukrainians and Iranians stand together for freedom. This is why presence matters.
