Celebrating 70 Years of Girls at St Benedict’s

Seventy years ago, a new chapter began in the history of St Benedict’s. Since then, generations of girls have been part of our school’s story, shaping its community, contributing to its traditions and helping to create the St Benedict’s we know today.

We were delighted to come together to celebrate this significant milestone, reflecting on the journey of girls at St Benedict’s, remembering the experiences and achievements of those who came before us, and recognising the lasting impact of this shared history.

Our guest speakers, Kellee Ashlee (OP 2005), Dr Cliona O’Connell & Maria Michael Nolan (OP 1998) reflected on the significance of 70 years of girls at St Benedict’s, sharing their own experiences and perspectives on the importance of championing girls’ education, advocating for women and creating opportunities for future generations.

As we celebrate this 70-year legacy, we look ahead with pride, committed to building on the foundations laid by those who came before us and continuing to champion, empower and inspire the next generation of girls at St Benedict’s.

Maria is the Company Director of Bespoke Body Wellness and has worked as an Elite Personal Trainer and Holistic Practitioner for over 20 years, supporting high-profile clients, athletes, actors, and professionals from all walks of life.⁠

Speaking on 'The Juggle of Life!', Maria will share her experience of building a successful business that has allowed her to flourish professionally while raising a family and maintaining a healthy work/life balance.⁠

Cliona graduated from UCD in Dublin with a Bachelor of Medicine and has spent the last 20 years working as a GP. Over the course of her career, she has developed a deep interest and expertise in women’s health.

Driven by her clinical experience and a mission to empower women, Cliona formulated a range of natural supplements to help women take control of their health.

Celebrating 70 Years of Girls at St Benedict’s 💙

As part of our 70 Years of Girls celebrations, we’re delighted to welcome Kellee Ashlee (OP 2005) as one of our guest speakers.

Kellee is a Strategic HR Business Partner at British Airways, specialising in organisational change and transformation. Her career has spanned multiple industries, from media and telecommunications to aviation, helping organisations navigate change while supporting people to thrive.

Kellee’s career is just one example of the many different paths taken by the women who have passed through St Benedict’s. Over the past 70 years, our alumnae have gone on to make their mark across business, medicine, law, the arts, sport, education and public life, building successful careers and contributing to their communities in countless ways.

From our first female Sixth Formers in 1956 to the young women graduating today, their achievements form an important part of the story of St Benedict’s.

We’re looking forward to hearing from Kellee, celebrating the achievements of our alumnae and reflecting on the generations of women who have helped shape our School and our wider community.

Congratulations to Kevin Dutton (OP 85), who has successfully completed a world-first achievement: the TRUE South-North traverse of the British Isles.⁠

Our annual Fireworks Evening is taking place on Friday 16 October!

It was fantastic to welcome our Old Priorians back to St Benedict’s for the annual netball fixtures against our 1st and 2nd VII teams.

The 1st VII secured a hard-fought 17–15 victory. The 2nd VII put in a strong performance, with the OPs taking the win 12–9.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to play, support and cheer from the sidelines.

Here’s to many more OP fixtures to come!

It was wonderful to welcome back our recent leavers alongside our current Sixth Form students for our annual Prize Giving.

A special thank you to Matt Carr (OP 2017), who joined us as our Alumni Guest of Honour and shared some fantastic advice with our leavers as they look ahead to their next chapter.

Matt encouraged them to stay busy, get involved and remain curious - embracing opportunities, trying new things and making the most of all that life has to offer.

A brilliant reminder that the St Benedict’s journey doesn’t end when you leave. Our alumni community continues to inspire and support the next generation.
