Cerebrospinal fluid flow extends to peripheral nerves further unifying the nervous system
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is responsible for maintaining brain homeostasis through nutrient delivery and waste removal for the central nervous system (CNS). Here, we demonstrate extensive CSF flow throughout the peripheral nervous system (PNS) - Our findings suggest that CSF plays a consistent role in maintaining homeostasis throughout the nervous system with implications for CNS and PNS therapy and neural drug delivery.'

“40 years – and what massive changes have arisen in the Cranio-Sacral field during those 40 years.

When the College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CCST) was formed by Thomas Attlee in 1986 as the first college of cranio-sacral therapy, the only other person teaching cranial work outside of osteopathic colleges was John Upledger in the USA, and cranio-sacral therapy was almost totally unknown.

Since then, CCST has trained thousands of students, many other trainings have emerged (some of them created by CCST graduates) and cranio-sacral therapy and cranio-sacral trainings are now available in the vast majority of countries across the world. What a transformation!

The cranio-sacral system that we are engaging with is everything about the person, their whole life story - their birth, their childhood, their emotional state, every injury, illness, shock, and trauma that they have ever experienced, their history, their personality, their lifestyle, their whole being, everything about them. This is one of the many factors which make the CCST training so transformative.“

CCST provides the opportunity to train as a professional Cranio-Sacral Therapist with the most established college of Cranio-Sacral Therapy, leading the field with over 40 years experience of training Cranio-Sacral Therapists in the UK and internationally. TACTILE PERECEPTION

We use all our senses, our entire sensorium to navigate the outside world. But in our practice, we privilege the sense of touch. Our hands can discern the subtle motion of primary respiration, the overall state of health, the patterns of adverse experiences held in the body and how they compromise tidal motion. Those tactile images revealed to our hands are diagnostic and guide session work. Our hands can also feel how the organism responds to our touch. For instance, a shift in the autonomic tone to a parasympathetic state of calm or the letting go of a tissue memory and realignment of the tensegrity network of connective tissues or shift out of fluid stasis.

All of this if perception, which relies on the brain’s ability to interpret sensory information. Through persistent practice, we can expand our compendium of tactile images and grow our palpatory literacy, our ability to accurately interpret the messages that our clients’ bodies deliver to touch receptors in our hands. This is not guesswork, it’s not intuition, not the channelling of mysterious forces, it is simple the art of touch.

CSTA Presents:
Getting Away From Neurology: Understanding the Body-Mind Through Biosemiotics
A CPD workshop with Andrew Cook
4 July 2026
We are delighted to open bookings for our third CPD workshop this year, 'Getting Away From Neurology: Understanding the Body-Mind Through Biosemiotics' with Andrew Cook.
A health-oriented view of embodiment
The core of CST is an appreciation of health as an innate and continuously present force. However, most trauma-oriented material (and “trauma-aware” practice) is based on the idea of trauma-as-pathology.
A re-frame of dissociation and overwhelm as normal healthy adaptive states (for which the body has evolved a normal path to reverse) creates a very different model of “trauma” that is more in line with CST, taking the focus from neurology and more towards pre-vertebrate evolutionary stages of life and from there to biosemiotics – the science of communication in living organisms and ecosystems.
What you will learn
A re-framed version of trauma in terms of healthy biological responses and shifts in embodiment, along with a well-tested framework to use this – either hands on and/or with the patient participating.
The workshop will cover theory; self-experiential exploration; a map of the phenomenology and biology of dissociation; and some very practical tools and ideas that can be applied to working successfully with dissociation, general loss of embodiment, and imprints with dissociative patterns in a CST / bodywork practice. The course also include practical hands-on work but – for reasons that will become apparent – this will not be table-based.
Andrew Cook has been practising CST for 30 years in Norfolk and has spent the past 20 years adapting trauma psychotherapy into a bodywork practice.
Where: Beech Room, Old Carrow House, Norwich
When: Saturday, 4th July 2026, 9.30 – 5.30

Via College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CCST)
shares: “Craniosacral Therapy uses a light, precise touch to listen to the body and support the nervous system. Although the touch is subtle, the effects can be deeply meaningful. By working with the body’s natural rhythms and the interconnected fascial network, Craniosacral Therapy helps create the conditions for the body to settle, rebalance, and restore itself.
People come to Craniosacral Therapy for many reasons — stress, tension, pain, fatigue, or simply a feeling that their system needs space to reset. Others are curious about reconnecting with their bodies in a deeper way.
What many people share after a session is a sense of deep relaxation, greater ease in their body, improved sleep, and a feeling of calm and clarity.”

A Bridge Between Science and Healing
Exploring the Quantum Field and Cranio-sacral Therapy

In a world that’s constantly redefining the boundaries of science and spirituality, the concept of the quantum field has captured the imagination of many. At its core, the quantum field represents a vast web of interconnected energy, a field where every particle, wave, and vibration plays a role in shaping the Universe as we know it.

But what if I told you this same field could help explain the subtle, profound healing effects of Cranio Sacral Therapy?
