Congratulations to the new Certified Transactional Analysts (CTAs) !

We're delighted to share this lovely photo, kindly sent to us by Julia Tolley, celebrating those who recently achieved their CTA qualification in Nottingham.

Becoming a CTA represents a significant professional achievement, reflecting years of training, learning, practice, and commitment to Transactional Analysis.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and we wish you all the very best for the next stage of your TA journey.

It's Volunteers' Week 💙

This week, we're celebrating the people who generously give their time, expertise, and energy to support UKATA and the wider Transactional Analysis community.

UKATA is supported by 30+ dedicated volunteers who contribute their professional skills across many areas of the organisation's work. Their commitment helps us maintain standards, support members, and continue developing the TA profession.

We're also grateful to the many volunteers across all TA specialisms who support learning, growth, and community throughout the year.

Thank you to everyone who gives their time to make a difference.

Today, we remember Petruska Clarkson on the anniversary of her death.

Petruska’s work continues to shape the field of psychotherapy and Transactional Analysis through her thinking on relationship, presence, and the therapeutic encounter.

Her writing invited us to pay attention not only to what happens within people, but also to what happens between them - in the space where connection, repair, rupture, and understanding take place.

This year’s Summer issue of The Transactional Analyst is dedicated to that theme: THE SPACE BETWEEN

We also warmly welcome reflections from those who knew Petruska, trained with her, worked alongside her, or were influenced by her ideas and practice.

Her legacy continues in conversations, relationships, supervision rooms, classrooms, and therapeutic work across the community.

Get involved! UKATA is inviting expressions of interest from members who would like to contribute to its Training and Accreditation Standards Committee (TASC).

This committee plays an important role in shaping training, standards, and accreditation within the TA community.

The deadline for TASC applications has been extended to 31 May 2026.

We are particularly keen to hear from experienced trainers and supervisors, while also welcoming members earlier in their journey who are interested in supporting learning, standards and accreditation.

If you’ve been considering getting involved, this is a good point to step forward.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week 💙

This year’s theme is Take Action - recognising that meaningful change often begins with the everyday actions people take to support mental wellbeing in their communities.

At UKATA, we want to recognise and thank our counselling and psychotherapy members who work year-round supporting people’s mental health and wellbeing across the UK.

We also want to acknowledge the trainers and supervisors helping shape the next generation of counsellors and psychotherapists, alongside the trainees giving their time through placements and low-cost counselling services to support others every day.

Thank you for the care, reflection, skill, and humanity you continue to bring to your work and communities.

10/05/2026

Members came together for the UKATA Annual General Meeting 2026. The session focused on sharing updates, opening up discussion with Council, and giving members space to contribute to the future direction of the association.

Thank you to everyone who took part, and to Jon Levett, CEO of UK Council for Psychotherapy, for joining us to discuss the regulation of counselling and psychotherapy.
