The Royal British Legion - South African Branch has been formed within the Royal British Legion charity as a National Branch and draws its membership from the South African Legion of Military Veterans (South African Legion) in the United Kingdom, as well as expatriated South Africans living in the United Kingdom. This unique relationship is designed in this way to assist the South African Legion -
United Kingdom Branch with matters of integration into the Royal British Legion fold and other veteran affairs in the United Kingdom. As a Royal British Legion branch it carries the branch number BR 3682 in order to conduct fundraising in the United Kingdom in accordance with the Royal British Legion Charter. As the branch is a National Branch drawing its membership from the South African Legion in the United Kingdom, it carries the badge of the South African Legion as part of its identity. The South African Legion and the Royal British Legion are brother organisations in the international Legion fold and share a common history and common objective. We also share the ‘Poppy’ as the primary symbol of Remembrance. Anyone may join the Royal British Legion South Africa Branch because RBL branches are not exclusive in their membership, however, those joining the South African Legion - United Kingdom Branch will automatically be joining the Royal British Legion and thereby will not only enjoy the benefits and comradeship offered by membership of the RBL but extend them to those offered by membership of the South African Legion as well.
