Congratulations to the Network Rail and Colas Rail team – winners of Railway Challenge 2025🏆

Teams from two German universities took the runner-up spots, with Team EAGLE from TH Nürnberg in second place and fh2rail from FH Aachen - University of Applied Sciences in third.

This year also welcomed four teams to the Entry Level category, including:
🚄 Monash Railway Express (Monash University, Australia)
🚄 Team Heron, (Anglia Ruskin University)
🚄 Cambridge University Locomotive Engineers' Society (University of Cambridge)
🚄 Guided Ways Railway Challenge team (ESTACA, France)

A standout moment was the opening of a new rail turntable by Dr Alice Bunn OBE and Lord Gretton, paving the way for up to 30 teams to compete in future years and hopefully more international entrants.

Lord Gretton, Organising Committee Chair Simon Iwnicki and Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Chief Executive Alice Bunn opening the new turntable constructed at Stapleford Miniature Railway which will allow the number of locomotives to be increased from the current limit of 14 to 30!
