We are off to High Wycombe England for Bucks Cultures OPEN WEEKEND and WREXFEST in North Wales with the entire international cast of NOTIZEN -

Signdance Collective, part of the international Signdance Group and based in the UK and Croatia, brings the full international cast of NOTIZEN to WREXFEST, Wrexham’s music and arts festival in North Wales. Part of our Shared Enviroments Research and Project.Catch us on 14 August, 13:30–14:30 at Tŷ Pawb, and again on 15 August from 13:00 onwards at Eagles Meadow, with our new street‑theatre work NOTIZEN ( full performances / full cast ).

NOTIZEN blends signdance, movement and object‑based storytelling, exploring how news, protest and everyday voices collide in public space.

Announcement & Tribute — Joke Menssink

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Joke Menssink, a long‑time friend, collaborator, and supporter of The Signdance Group.

Joke was part of our history, our story, and our artistic journey. Her commitment to inclusive arts, her generosity of spirit, and her belief in the power of creative community touched many people across Europe and beyond. She supported our work through different eras of Signdance Theatre, always with warmth, humour, and a fierce dedication to accessibility and artistic integrity.

We hold her memory with gratitude.
Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and everyone who worked alongside her.

May her legacy continue in the movement, connection, and creativity she helped inspire.

Tribute to Her Diagonaal Legacy

Joke Menssink’s passing marks the loss of a visionary director whose work shaped the early foundations of Signdance Theatre and left a lasting imprint on European inclusive performance. As founder of Diagonaal Theatre Group, she created a bold visual language that influenced artists across borders and laid the groundwork for collaborations that still resonate today.

Her direction of Carthage, Peyrots Stolen Dolls, and Ojo / Eye / Oog helped define the emerging identity of Signdance Theatre. Joke’s commitment to accessibility, ensemble practice, and artistic integrity remains part of our DNA. We honour her legacy with deep gratitude and affection.
