There’s still time to respond to the government consultation on ending the use of toxic chemicals in furniture, but not much. ⏰

We would encourage our members and the wider industry to take a look, respond and help keep this conversation moving.

The consultation closes on 23 June 2026, so please remember to submit your response before the deadline.

⏰ Just a reminder that applications for the 2026 Bob Fowlds Grant close THIS Monday 15 June!

If applying has been on your to-do list, this weekend is your last opportunity!

🔹With TWO grants available, successful applicants will receive up to £1,000 funding, a dedicated industry mentor for 12 months and the support of the AMUSF community as they take the next step in their business. 🔹

If you’re reaching the end of your AMUSF training, are an AMUSF Graduate Member or have three years of professional experience, we’d encourage you to apply.

Many of our members begin as Student Members while studying at an Approved Training Centre, =>> move on to Graduate Membership after qualifying, and later =>> become Ordinary Members as their experience and businesses develop.

Cathy Bain of is a lovely example of that journey. She started as a student at , became a Graduate Member and has recently upgraded to Ordinary Membership. 👏👏

It’s a great example of how AMUSF membership can grow with you as your skills, experience and business develop.

It’s that time again! 👏👏

We’ve been busy (thank you, Lucy!) preparing certificates ready to go out to students at the end of the year.

Each one is carefully hand-stamped with our official seal.

Every certificate marks so much hard work, learning and skill, and we can’t wait to see them arriving with students very soon.

Congratulations to everyone reaching this stage. Such a lovely moment in the AMUSF calendar! 👏

The Bob Fowlds Grant application deadline is now just 15 days away! (15 June) ⏰

If you’re thinking about applying, please take a look at what last year’s recipients have gone on to do. =>>

used her funding to invest in new tools and machinery, including a walking foot sewing machine, which has been a real game-changer for her work and business.
edge Rebecca used her grant to build and launch her website, helping her reach more customers and share all of the services that she offers.

Alongside funding of up to £1,000, each grant recipient also receives a dedicated industry mentor for 12 months.

It really captures something we hear time and time again.

So many people in the upholstery and soft furnishings industry work independently or in very small teams, and having a community around you can make such a difference.

AMUSF membership is not just about qualifications, training or business support.
