Time for a Change: Why Dormer's Wells Needs Ranjit Dheer to Retire
Councillor Ranjit Dheer has been a councillor for thirty years and the calculation of his length of service had to be checked twice to make sure it was correct. He led on the improvement of Southall Boulevard which today is a chaotic mess with broken and damaged pavements, the central reservation used as a car park at night, major traffic congestion, inadequate parking and fly-tipped bags of rubbish everywhere. The era of coaches bringing shoppers to Southall Broadway is long gone. The shop fronts and the Manor House renovation in Southall Green which Cllr Dheer led, are at the epicentre of lawless behaviour as drug dealers rule this area and visitors to the restaurants park along the pavement at night in a row, with no fear of receiving a penalty. £1.5 million of public money was wasted on refurbishing the Manor House as a training kitchen for chefs which never opened, an ambitious plan doomed to failure. It has been unused for years and could be used to meet the needs of residents for much needed community space in Southall, which is undergoing aggressive overdevelopment without adequate amenities. Given Councillor Dheer's advancing years and his penchant for wearing ear muffs indoors at Southall's Your Voice Your Town forum, he is no longer able to engage effectively with residents. It is doubtful that he has kept up to date with IT and social media which could explain his failure to respond to emails, frustrating residents. His halcyon days are behind him so it is time to retire from public service.

Is Cllr Sanghera serving residents or his property developer employer's interests?
Councillor Jags Sanghera is employed by Berkeley Group, the property developer for the Green Quarter formerly known as Southall Gasworks. In his Head of Business and Community Engagement role, residents who live on Beaconsfield Road reported that he entered porches and tore down Clean Air for Southall and Hayes (CASH) posters in 2018 at the height of the campaign to raise awareness of the devastating air pollution from excavation work at the gasworks, causing ill health to residents
At Southall Community Alliance's monthly community forum in June which he chairs, he did not announce that he was elected as a councillor in Norwood Green ward. His three roles scream conflict of interests which is perhaps why he wanted to keep his election success under wraps. Councillor John Martin announced that he had been elected as an independent councillor in the same ward at the meeting and thanked residents for their support. Although it is early days for Jags as a councillor, residents are already complaining that he doesn't reply to emails in stark contrast with John who is also visibly active doing welfare checks on rough sleepers, getting potholes fixed, Lime Bikes removed and being proactive on other issues affecting residents in Norwood Green. He emails a weekly newsletter to residents and is quite rightly respected for the work that he does.

Kam Nagal was invited for a walkabout of Southall Broadway ward and did not respond to a voicemail message. She has a consistent track record of not responding to emails and voicemails, leaving residents with no method of engagement with her. She was recently seen doing what was a roving surgery on St. Joseph's Drive, firmly guided by MP Deirdre Costigan who had her trusty clipboard prop to enhance the photo opportunity. Independent councillor for Norwood Green John Martin accepted Southall Residents' Alliance's invitation for a walkabout of South Road, St. Joseph's Drive and Southall Broadway. He did welfare checks on eight rough sleepers and engaged with a member of the public who stopped for a chat. Prior to meeting SRA he had done 50 welfare checks on rough sleepers elsewhere in Southall. John proved to be a receptive listener to the issues which residents raised at the protest in front of Southall Town Hall:
▶️Rampant drug use and drug dealing on the streets and in the parks
▶️ Violent crime
▶️ Increasing antisocial behaviour
▶️Prostitutes conducting their business potentially in front of children
▶️ Lack of parking
▶️ Incomplete tower blocks caused by the collapse of the developer
▶️Traffic chaos
Kam is ignoring both residents and traders and has built a ring of steel around herself. She does not have the lived testimonies of residents to draw upon for her cabinet portfolio which is For Decent Living Incomes. She is on the Health and Well Being Board and has insulated herself from hearing about the psychological and physical harm caused to a vulnerable community by the relocation of RISE, the drug and alcohol rehab service from West Ealing to Southall Town Hall. Kam was a college lecturer at Southall Community College where she was exposed to the barriers which her students faced. Her failure to engage with residents affects her ability to be an effective councillor. She is entitled to £59,395.56 in allowances, a combination of her basic councillor and cabinet member allowances. She has been a councillor for 12 years and has done nothing to improve the lives of residents in Southall Broadway ward. Resign now! SRA will continue to meet Cllr John Martin.

RISE and the Decline of Southall.
In Southall Park, a short walk away from Southall Town Hall, a 12 year old child was surrounded by 4 people, a knife was held to his throat and his scooter stolen. He has been traumatised by the incident and has gone to stay with an Aunt who lives outside of Southall. The trauma experienced, could potentially impact the child well into adulthood. In another incident in Southall Park, a mother's arms were held behind her back and her child's scooter was stolen. The dominance of the park by those involved in drug activity and related crime, is causing the park to rapidly descend into a no go zone for residents. Protest organisers want the council to reconsider relocating RISE outside of Southall and explore decentralised services which will help to thwart the drug dealers and provide a safer environment for addicts and the wider community.

Rise up Southall!
Join fellow residents who are suffering the impact of increased drug crime and antisocial behaviour, linked to the relocation of RISE, the drug and alcohol rehabilitation service from West Ealing to Southall.
Date: 15th August
Location: Outside of Southall Town Hall
Time: 1.00pm - 4.00pm

Join residents who are scared for their children going to school and elderly parents going to the shops. Ealing Council is in denial about the rising drug crime and antisocial behaviour since RISE was relocated to Southall Town Hall from West Ealing. Southall was already an area experiencing the highest crime statistics in the whole of West Area Command. The council needs to relocate RISE to Ealing Hospital, Perceval House or another location but not within Southall. Join the community protest outside of Southall Town Hall on 15th August 1.00pm to 4.00pm. Come with a hearty voice and use the content of the slides to make your own placards from cardboard boxes. We have no choice but to resist Ealing Council's attempts to silence residents and to gaslight harrowing lived testimonies of drug taking in front of school children and brawls between drug users.

Vote for Labour to destroy Southall
The only time the councillors are seen out in force is in the run up to an election. After being re-elected, they retreat and ensure that the ring of steel around them is impenetrable, except for MP Deirdre Costigan who has been a busy bee out and about this Summer, seeking photo opportunities to make her appear that she wants to improve policing in Southall. Disrupting drug crime requires well coordinated, under cover policing operations which leads to the arrest and conviction of drug dealers. There is no threat until this happens, to the drug dealers who rule Southall. The Labour councillors lost votes in May 2026, so Deirdre knows that a win in the next general election isn't clear cut for her. Residents want to see real and sustained evidence of crime reduction in Southall, not a plethora of videos with unproven actions by Deirdre Costigan.

Jasbir Anand has emerged from MIA, showing no sign of action.
Councillor Jasbir Anand sat in Southall Green's Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) meeting mostly looking morose, distant and sullen and sometimes impassive. Her body language indicated that she didn't want to be at the meeting with residents and the police and there was no evidence of receptive listening to the incident reports shared by residents. When she finally spoke about the deployment of 50 mobile cameras in the pipeline, residents had enough of her spin and chose the time wisely to resume a conversation with one of the PCSOs. She is in for a rough ride until the local election in May 2030, as residents demand that she responds to emails and holds surgeries. Ultimately the only way to try and salvage Southall, is to make sure that she and her colleagues aren't re-elected. We have had enough of over 40 years of Labour's failure in Southall.

Manor House Grounds is a no go zone for locals and those who do enter, tread carefully around the drug dealers and drug users who congregate there. The police who attend the monthly Cuppa with a Copper public engagement events, will glance in the direction of the dealers who turn up on their bikes, from the cafe in front of the grounds but this is the extent of their policing. A film crew was surrounded by individuals who made it clear that this was their 'manor' and that they were unwelcome. The film crew recognised the danger they were in and quickly de-escalated the situation. The police don't appear to have done operations to disrupt the drug dealing and the dealers make it clear that they control The Green. MP Deirdre Costigan is on a mission to increase policing in Southall. The success or failure of this will be visible to residents who are in a state of heightened anxiety walking around Southall.

No Child Should Fear the Walk to School
School Children are routinely walking past drug users, injecting he**in, smoking from crack pipes and human waste along the canal towpath and on other routes to Blair Peach, Beaconsfield and Hambrough Primary Schools and Villiers High School. Parents are frustrated by the lack of police response when they dial 999 to report incidents. Visible drug use, drug dealing and related antisocial behaviour has become normalised in Southall, which has been left to rot by Ealing Council and the Metropolitan Police. Residents in desperation to be heard, are pushing back against the nightmare scenario on the streets and are holding a protest on 15th August 1.00pm - 4.00pm, outside of Southall Town Hall at the relocation of RISE which has precipitated a spike in drug related crime and antisocial behaviour. The council and the police did not anticipate despite evidence from where RISE was located in West Ealing, the need for more police resourcing to manage drug dealers attracted to RISE, intent on getting vulnerable clients to relapse. Residents will share their testimonies of what they experience walking past drug dealers and seeing drug users across Southall. One of our core messages is 'Stop Treating Southall Like It Doesn't Matter.'
