🛣️ Building Access, Building Independence

We’re pleased to share that a €13,500 grant has been awarded to Aurora to support essential improvements to their residential driveway.

The funding will enable a full upgrade and resurfacing of the driveway to create a safe, accessible, and wheelchair-friendly environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

This important project will include widening the access route, installing a smooth non-slip surface, improving drainage and lighting, and creating a dedicated level area for safe vehicle transfer. These works will significantly reduce trip hazards, improve safety during transfers, and ensure reliable year-round access for modified vehicles, emergency services, and deliveries.

A simple upgrade making a life-changing difference — supporting safer, more inclusive care for all residents.

Enhancing dignity, safety and therapeutic access

The Hospital Saturday Fund is delighted to award a €13,500 grant to Inspire Foundation, Malta in support of their “Enhancing Dignity, Safety and Therapeutic Access for Young Adults with PMLD” project.

This funding will enable the purchase of essential specialist equipment, including hoists, a shower trolley, and adapted physiotherapy and sensory gym resources. These tools will support safe transfers, improve access to hydrotherapy and therapy sessions, and reduce manual handling risks for both service users and staff.

By improving access to consistent, high-quality therapeutic care, this project will enhance postural management, mobility, sensory regulation, and overall wellbeing, while ensuring dignity and comfort for individuals with complex physical disabilities.

We are proud to support Inspire Foundation, Malta in delivering this vital improvement to care and quality of life.

Supporting Early Detection, Saving Lives 💙

You’re very welcome, and thank you for joining us. We are proud to support the incredible work of CRY Ireland and the vital care you provide to patients and families across Ireland. Wishing you continued success with this important initiative.

💙 Powering early detection, saving lives through better heart care 💙

Katie Newbery, Charity Coordinator, The Hospital Saturday Fund and Laura Long, National Sales Manager Ireland, HSF Health Plan, alongside Neil Finlayson, Chair of HSF Health Plan, awarded a €5,000.00 grant at The Wheel event in Dublin to Lucia Ebbs, CEO of Cardiac Risk in the Young in Ireland Limited (CRY Ireland), for the purchase of heart rhythm monitoring equipment to support timely cardiac assessment and patient care.

The CRYP Centre uses Holter and event monitors to continuously assess heart rhythms over extended periods, helping detect issues that may not appear during a standard ECG or brief clinic visit. As many patients live outside Dublin, devices are often returned by post, making it essential to maintain sufficient stock to avoid delays in diagnosis and ensure uninterrupted care.

These monitors are vital in identifying intermittent or silent arrhythmias, linking symptoms to heart rhythm, and guiding key clinical decisions including treatment and further investigation. They also support safe outpatient monitoring, reduce unnecessary hospital admissions, and enable earlier detection of potentially serious conditions.

With this support from The Hospital Saturday Fund, CRY Ireland can continue strengthening early diagnosis and delivering timely, life-saving cardiac care when it matters most.
