Piratá Waurá, cineasta indígena do territórmulheresnocimenabrasileiroPPP, é o primeiro realizador indígena brasileiro a co-dirigir, juntamente com a cineasta e diretora de fotografia Heloisa Passos, um curta vencedor do Hot Docs. O trabalho, com realizadores da aldeia Ulupuwene, nos leva ao coração do povo Wauja — sua memória e sua luta pela preservação da gruta sagrada do Kamukuwaka.

Replikka has won Best International Short Documentary at Hot Docs 2026 — and is now eligible for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short. 🎬✨

A landmark moment: Piratá Waurá, an Indigenous filmmaker from the Xingu, becomes the first Indigenous Brazilian co-director to win at Hot Docs. Alongside Heloisa Passos, he brings us into the heart of the Wauja people — their memory, their struggle, their sacred cave of Kamukuwaka.

This project is a result of ten years of partnership between People’s Palace Projects / Queen Mary University of London, Factum Foundation and the Wauja people — a decade of listening, trust and cultural resistance. 🌿

On Earth Day, the question was: how do we save the Amazon?

Our Head of Climate Action and Indigenous Exchange, Thiago Jesus (), and our Communications and Indigenous and Climate Projects Manager, Yula Rocha (), were at Oxford’s Museum of Natural History ( ) to help answer it.

Alongside policymakers, academics, indigenous Amazonian leaders and NGOs, they joined a panel exploring real solutions. They also showcased our latest VR experience, Kamukuwaká – The Call of the Forest.

Ao lado de formuladores de políticas públicas, acadêmicos, lideranças indígenas da Amazônia e ONGs, participaram de um painel explorando soluções reais.

Também apresentaram a nossa mais recente experiência de realidade virtual, Kamukuwaká – O Chamado da Floresta.

Today is ! 🌎

To mark the date, we are looking back at the making of the short film Replikka. Directed by Indigenous filmmaker Piratá Waurá () and Heloisa Passos (), the project was produced in partnership with an Indigenous Audiovisual Collective. 🎥

The film was born out of an act of resistance and rebirth: the return of the replica of the Sacred Kamukuwaká Cave to the Wauja people. It is a poetic journey through memory, identity, and the unyielding strength of Indigenous ancestry.

Our Indigenous partners are the ones who protect and care for the Earth, its forests, rivers, and animals. At PPP, our mission is to help amplify their voices and inspire social change.

Para marcar a data, relembramos a produção do curta-metragem Replikka. Dirigido pelo cineasta indígena Piratá Waurá () e Heloisa Passos (), o projeto foi produzido em parceria com um coletivo audiovisual indígena. 🎥

O filme nasceu de um ato de resistência e renascimento: a entrega da réplica da Gruta Sagrada do Kamukuwaká ao povo Wauja. É uma jornada poética sobre memória, identidade e a força inabalável da ancestralidade Indígena.

Nossos parceiros indígenas são aqueles que protegem e cuidam da Terra, de suas florestas, rios e animais. Na PPP, nossa missão é ajudar a amplificar suas vozes e inspirar a mudança social.

O filme Replikka está concorrendo na categoria de curta-metragem documentário do prêmio Grande Otelo, da Academia Brasileira de Cinema ()! 🎥

Com cada premiação que participamos, ampliamos a luta pela demarcação e pela preservação da herança cultural dos povos Wauja e do Xingu diante do avanço do agronegócio em MT e da crise climática que ameaçam o território.

Agora, o filme está embarcando para fazer sua estreia internacional! Replikka participar do Guadalajara International Film Festival, no México, e do Hot Docs Documentary Festival, em Toronto. Dedos cruzados!🤞

🇬🇧 EN | The film Replikka is competing in the documentary short film category at the Grande Otelo Award, presented by the Brazilian Academy of Cinema! 🎥

With every award ceremony we participate in, we broaden the fight for the demarcation and preservation of the cultural heritage of the Wauja and Xingu peoples in the face of the expansion of agribusiness in Mato Grosso and the climate crisis threatening their territory.

Now, the film is heading out on its international début! Replikka will be screening at the Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico, and at Hot Docs Documentary Festival in Toronto. Fingers crossed! 🤞

PPP made its debut at Queen Mary University of London’s Climate Action Week! 🌍

We were happy to join the university’s activities for the first time, starting with the panel “Beyond COP30: Closing the Gap Between Talk and Action”. Featuring first-hand insights from Queen Mary’s delegation, the discussion was a powerful reminder of what comes next.

Our team, Thiago Jesus (Head of Climate Action and Indigenous Exchange) and Yula Rocha (Communications and Indigenous and Climate Projects Manager), highlighted the vital intersection of culture and climate through the lenses of both creativity and advocacy. 🎨✊

Were also part of the debate Dr Benjamin Neimark, Dr Fernando Barrio, Dr Andrew Russell and Bianca Miranda

To top it off, during QMUL London Climate Week, our new VR experience “Kamukuwaká: the Call of the Forest”was presented, with a first taster session for students.

The Verbatim Formula is participating in the Arts for Social Change Showcase! 🗣️

TVF is joining Collective Encounters () for an evening of quick-fire presentations from those using the arts for social change. They’ll be talking about their collective work with care-experienced young people, using verbatim theatre and collaborative practices to create spaces for sharing lived experience, challenging stigma and systemic issues within the care system.

Ahead of in Belém, we collaborated with on Art for Climate, an initiative inviting artists from across Brazil to respond to the climate challenges facing their territories.

For our final artist focus, we turn to the artist collective .dasmatas. Rooted in nature, movement and collective participation, their work makes visible the environmental and ecological challenges facing the Marajó community, reclaiming the stories of a territory and its people that have been made invisible. During COP30 they delivered workshops, parades and incredible performances.

In our latest blog, Samantha Blackwood McKinson gives us an inside look at the Creative Resilience Workshop in London.

Through film screenings, poetry, and The Long Table Methodology, young people from .uk shared knowledge to co-develop strategies for community wellbeing and collaborative research.

This project, led by PPP, explores the intersection of arts, the climate crisis, and mental health across London, Rio de Janeiro, and Fortaleza. 🌍

Our documentary Caminar Distinto (Walking our Way) received the Honourary Award for Effort in Social Filmmaking at the Activists Without Borders Film Festival 2025 ()! 🏆🎬

In this video, director Lizet Chavez () shares more about the film, which follows nine young artists from Bogotá, Lima and Buenos Aires as they explore how art helps them cope with life in fast-paced cities.

This work is an outcome of the OLA project, which studied the mental health of Latin American youth.
