Our member SOS MEDITERRANEE France is expanding its presence in the UK

In 2026, SOS MEDITERRANEE established a long-term presence in the UK to build partnerships, raise awareness and strengthen support for humanitarian search and rescue at sea.

For the past ten years, the organisation has rescued more than 43,400 people in distress in the Central Mediterranean.

With 93% of its funding coming from private donations, building a strong network of UK supporters, foundations, companies and civil society organisations is key to sustaining its life-saving work.

We’re pleased to highlight the work of our member and its growing presence in the UK.

Important update for our community

Alongside a number of other organisations, Philanthropy Impact has been affected by a cyber security incident involving Beacon CRM, the platform we use to manage information relating to our members, partners and wider community.

On 3 August, Beacon informed us of the incident. Following its investigation, Beacon has advised that an unauthorised third party likely downloaded a copy of its customer database, including attachments. While it cannot confirm exactly which individual records were accessed, its assessment is that the database was likely exported in full, meaning information relating to Philanthropy Impact may have been included.

We want to reassure our community that there is currently no evidence that any information has been published, disclosed or misused.

Beacon has addressed the identified vulnerability, reset relevant credentials and introduced additional security monitoring. No further unauthorised activity has been identified.

We activated our internal response procedures as soon as we were notified and continue to work closely with Beacon while reviewing the potential impact. We take the security of your information very seriously and will keep our community informed of any significant developments.

As a precaution, please remain alert to unexpected emails, calls or messages requesting personal or financial information.
