Drought Warning !
We decided, with careful planning, to go ahead with our bonfire yesterday evening. We carefully scrapped back the usual bare earth around the fire; we kept the fire to a controlled size - the usual three buckets of water were in place around the fire and I was wearing the Fire Marshal hat, so we know WHO is keeping an eye on the fire at all times.

Our Nala is the most popular person on our Green- she, along with the other SIX visiting cats, brings many of our visitors !

Today we have just heard the news that one of our retired volunteers on the New Southgate Millennium Green has just died. Robert Piacentini was a volunteer with the Green for many years and before that a regular member of our local Community Association. Bob was a keen supporter of Wildlife and the Environment- especially known for his enthusiasm for TREES.
Bob kindly agreed to step in when our trustee Jane died, thus saving the Trust from collapse.
We continue planting trees, engaging with our local community, having bonfires and barbecues and working with the children, as he inspired us to do.

Warning !!!!

I forgot that this plant was in a pot and didn't water it. The weather has been SO wet we have NOT got into our usual summer routines of watering. Don't put it off, this is JUNE- when the sun comes out its HIGH, so its HOT !
If you have a garden, the chances are SOMEWHERE is a plant dying through unseasonal neglect. You need to adjust yourself for full on Summer at last- make the most of it, its UK so it will only last a few weeks !
Post me some pix if you discover I am right and you missed something.

There will be an Activity Week on the New Southgate Millennium Green this Summer - from Monday 31st July - Friday 4th August. Its will be a family event run by the NSMG Trust from 11-3pm each day, with different activities. Full details will be published here and on our other media when finalised.
