Picheam - Programme for the Improvement of CHild HEAlth hospital Management Supporting and developing children's healthcare in Burundi through the efforts of UK-based doctors, consultants, and health professionals.

The main goal of the charity is to decrease childhood mortality by simple interventions:

* supporting clinicians in adhering to available World Health Organisation guidelines and in some cases, updating them, in line with local Ministry of Health policies

introducing new guidelines, again with the agreement of Burundi’s health authorities

* helping to improve acute and inpatient manageme

nt of sick children

* improving communication skills and team working

* introducing the culture of quality assessment of services provided by clinicians

* facilitating distance support from referral centres’ clinicians to small hospitals for better rural patient management and pre-transfer triage
