Whales play a vital role in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems. 🐋

In Norway, the number of whales killed continues to rise as the whaling season progresses.

We are working to help end whaling, but we can’t do it without your support. Every donation helps strengthen our efforts to protect whales and their future.

Whales are highly intelligent, communicative mammals—yet each year, Norway continues to hunt them. For the 2026 season, Norway has set a staggeringly high quota of 1,641 minke whales, and the hunt is well underway. 🐋

Hear a Norwegian whaler in our first production, Whale Wash, claim how the grenade-tipped harpoon used to hunt whales will explode, “instantly killing it.”

But we know that’s not true.

Over 20% of whales do not die instantly when shot with a harpoon. They can bleed out for several minutes, suffering an agonising death.

This Endangered Species Day we’re shining a light on the Okapi and the importance of protecting the ecosystems they call home 🌿

Sadly, according to the IUCN Red List, okapis are endangered, with populations estimated to have declined by as much as 50% over the past two decades due to habit loss, poaching and instability in the region.

From 2019–2024, ESPA supported eco guard training in and around Okapi Wildlife Reserve in the DRC, helping strengthen conservation efforts to protect this unique species and its habitat.
