Join us for a special evening as we bid farewell to our former Commanding Officer and warmly welcome our incoming Officer in Charge.

📅 Date: Saturday 20th June 2026
🕖 Doors Open: 1900hrs
🍽️ Dinner Served: 2000hrs

Your ticket includes a delicious 3-course meal, wine on the table, and raffle.

All proceeds from the evening will go towards supporting the Tooting and Balham Sea Cadet Unit.

Day Three out of Four for of our Unit Boating.

Here at Tooting and Balham unit, we’ve made best use of our time, utilising the Bank Holiday weekend to get our cadets afloat.

On the first two days we covered off some Rowing and Paddlesport, today and tomorrow sees the cadets doing their RYA Powerboat Level 2 and various RYA Dinghy Sailing.

This is the first boating weekend of the financial year, with another 3 planned across the year.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of TOOTING AND BALHAM Sea Cadet unit (TS CONSTANT) will be held at the Tooting and Balham Sea Cadets, 89 Mellison Road, London, SW17 9AS at 8 p.m. on FRIDAY 1 MAY 2026 to conduct the following business.

AGENDA
1. Apologies for absence
2. Opening address or comments by President or Chairperson
3. Minutes of the last AGM for approval
4. Matters arising from minutes of the last AGM (if applicable)
5. Unit Chairperson’s Report
6. P&SA Chairperson’s Report (if applicable)
7. Commanding Officer’s/Officer-in-Charge’s Report
8. Treasurer’s Report and adoption of accounts
9. Election/Re-election of the Unit Management Team (UMT)* trustees
10. Any Other Business

*Notes:
• Election of the Unit Management Team (UMT) trustees – Individuals who are seeking election to the UMT must have their nomination proposed and seconded.
• Nominations can only be accepted if they are submitted on the official nomination form which can be obtained from SLt (SCC) G. Collins RNR, [email protected]
• Forms will be available from Friday 3 April 2026.
• The criteria as to who is eligible to sit on the UMT can be found in the unit’s charity constitution (SCSC). Please contact SLt (SCC) G. Collins RNR.
• Any waiving of these criteria is at the discretion of the Volunteer & Business Support Manager (VBSM).
• Only fully completed forms will be accepted.
• Proof of posting is not proof of receipt.

Fully completed nomination forms need to be received by SLt (SCC) G. Collins RNR by email or post (host address) on Friday 24 April 2026.

All newly elected UMT trustees will be required to complete a P1 form – application to join Sea Cadets which includes a Trustee Declaration indicating that they know of no reason why they cannot become a charity trustee, Enhanced DBS, complete six online e-learning courses, a virtual safeguarding call (2 hours duration) within six months of joining.

Well… the day has arrived!

After a lot of consultation with the various stakeholders and today being the only day we could even find the paint! The job is complete!

I think the new coat of paint looks good! But wow those tins of tartan paint are expensive, thank you to all that donated!

🚢 Join Our Crew! Become a Unit Management Team (UMT) Trustee at Tooting & Balham Sea Cadets ⚓

Tooting & Balham Sea Cadets are on the lookout for passionate and committed individuals to join our Unit Management Team (UMT) — the vital group working behind the scenes to keep our unit running smoothly and help our young people thrive.

We’re ideally seeking support in the roles of Chair or Treasurer, but if you have time, enthusiasm, or skills to offer in any capacity, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re local to the area or would prefer to support remotely, your contribution will make a real difference.

Our unit currently has a 39-strong Ship’s Company of cadets and volunteers. With your help, we aim to stabilise and grow — developing opportunities for more young people to experience adventure, learn new skills, and gain confidence on and off the water.

🧭 What you’ll do:
- Support the overall governance and administration of the unit.
- Help guide the unit’s strategic growth and sustainability.
- Bring new ideas, experience, and energy to help us build for the future.

No naval or cadet experience is required — just a willingness to support a youth charity that transforms lives through nautical adventure and personal development.

🌟 Another Outstanding Night for Tooting & Balham Sea Cadets! 🌟

Last night our cadets once again did the unit — and the whole of London Area — incredibly proud as they completed their 4th Carpet Guard of the year, this one for one of our affiliated Worshipful Companies, The Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards.

Our young people lined the staircase of the prestigious Mansion House for the installation of their new Master, in the presence of this year’s Right Honourable Lady Mayor of the City of London.

We’ve already received fantastic feedback praising the cadets’ attitude, engagement, behaviour and immaculate dress. Their professionalism shone through from start to finish — well done to each and every one of you! 👏💙

And the good news doesn’t stop there…
We’re back at Mansion House on Tuesday for our 5th and final Carpet Guard of the year, this time supporting the installation of the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers. Another proud moment ahead!

To round off the evening, thanks to a generous donation from the Worshipful Company, the cadets enjoyed a well-earned treat at Pizza Express 🍕 — a perfect end to a brilliant night.

🎉 Happy 77th Birthday to His Majesty King Charles III 🎉

Today we celebrate the 77th birthday of His Majesty King Charles III, our Sovereign and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

As a youth charity that proudly follows the values and traditions of the modern Royal Navy, we extend our warmest wishes to His Majesty on this special day. Your lifelong dedication to service, leadership, and the wellbeing of others continues to inspire the next generation of young people we support.

🌺 Remembrance Sunday 2025 🌺

Today, the Ship’s Company of TS Constant came together to take part in the annual Remembrance Parade — a moment of pride, reflection, and unity for all.

Led by our Royal Marine Cadets, who proudly paraded the Unit Standard, the platoon marched from Mellison Road to St Mary’s of Summer Town Church. Once there, the Unit Drums were formed into a drumhead altar, and the Standard was presented to the local vicar to be respectfully draped during the service.

Each cadet who attended, from our Juniors, Blue Jackets and Royal Marine Cadets, represented the unit with respect, discipline, and pride — embodying the very best of what it means to wear the uniform.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Lt (SCC) K. Newton RNR, District Officer of London Southern District, for joining us on this important day and showing support for our young people.

Remembrance Sunday reminds us all of the importance of service, sacrifice, and community — values our Ship’s Company will continue to uphold with pride.
