can be painful for so many of us, but today we're especially thinking of mothers who are struggling - like many of the women who are involved with the Marylebone Project.

Homelessness and motherhood can mean raising your children in a hotel room, having your children removed from your care, or going through the death of a child.

If you're having a hard day, we see you 💐

We’re incredibly proud of Mila for bravely sharing her story at the UK House of Lords
💜

Speaking at last week's Homeless Link Parliamentary Reception, Mila moved the room with her experiences of abuse, rough sleeping, and survival as an LGBTQ+ woman, "I remember choosing to buy lipstick over food once. The more vulnerable you look, the more at risk you are. It was survival."

Our Executive Manager Amy and Marketing Lead Fern joined to cheer Mila on and connect with other CEOs, leaders and MPs working to end homelessness.

Rushanara Ali, MP and Minister for Homelessness, even paid tribute to Mila, "I've had the pleasure to meet Mila at a previous event, and was privileged enough to hear her story of trauma and resilience. We have to make sure people who've experienced homelessness are central to everything we do. Thank you, Mila, for your work, and for bravely sharing your story."

With discussions on long-term funding for tailored and trauma-informed services like the Marylebone Project, the event left us cautiously hopeful for a future where no one is left behind.

📢 Many homeless women miss out on cervical screenings, putting them at risk of cervical cancer 💔

Our incredible colleague, Imogen Sagon, shared her insights with The Big Issue about the barriers women experiencing homelessness face when accessing cervical healthcare, and how she works to help.

💡 "Specialist health services tailored to the needs of homeless people are pretty uncommon, and gender specific services are rarer than they should be.”

Women artists from the Marylebone Project are making their mark at the historic Marylebone Station!

These poignant artworks were created through our art therapy programme by women with lived experience of homelessness and are displayed with their consent.

The artists are deeply moved and proud to see their work showcased for the public. One client shared how meaningful it was to see her peers' art displayed on the walls of a station she once used as shelter during a difficult time.

The display runs until January 22nd - be sure to take a look if you're passing through.

Thank you Chiltern Railways and Make it Marylebone for making this happen.

Marylebone Project festivities! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas. We've been open and providing Christmas Dinners, activities, company - and even a gingerbread truck - for our 112 residents and the 30+ women that come to our Sanctuary drop in centre every 24 hours.

This period is one of the loneliest for a lot of our community, but we try to combat this by being a space where women can come, get what they need and just *exist*, or they can engage with housing advice, chat with others and take part in relaxing activities.

If you'd like to support our work please consider doing so - just £5 can provide a hot meal over the festive period to a woman in need. https://www.maryleboneproject.org.uk/support-us/donate/

🍳 We’re back with Blanche, our incredible volunteer chef, who shares the cooking skills her mother passed down to nourish women in need. At the Marylebone Project, meals aren’t just food - they’re moments of connection, comfort, and hope.

For just £5, you can provide a hot meal for a woman this festive period. It’s a small gesture that reminds her she’s not alone - a meal shared is a moment of hope.

💜 Help us make sure women in London don't go without this winter. Donate today:

As we sit down to festive meals this Christmas, it’s easy to take the comfort of food for granted. For many women at the Marylebone Project, however, this week is a stark reminder of challenges like separation from family, mental health struggles, child removal, and the stigma of homelessness.

👩‍🍳 Meet Blanche, our volunteer chef, who understands the profound power of nourishment. A meal isn’t just food - it’s warmth, dignity, and a moment of connection.

Spread the gratitude by giving back this Christmas - just £28 provides a woman with a safe space at our Sanctuary, a hot meal, a shower, clean clothes, and, most importantly, community.

After cancer treatment, Jon heard about Honey J Walker’s exhibition on BBC Radio 5 live and turned his car around to visit.

The exhibition not only raised £42,000 which will directly impact the women we serve, but raised public awareness of women’s homelessness. We feel so grateful to the many people who donated their services and resources in support of the exhibition. Huge thanks to Honey J Walker, Yield Gallery, and to everyone who bought a print, listened to the broadcast, attended the exhibition or engaged on social media.

Wow. We are so moved by all of your support for our Big Give appeal.

There is less than an hour to go, and we’ve far exceeded our Big Give target of £20,000. Our goal was to raise enough to provide warm, safe spaces to women for the 12 days of Christmas. Together, we have raised enough for 18 days, taking us right up to the 11th January. That means we can continue to provide 24/7 warmth and support through our Sanctuary to women facing homelessness and crisis this winter.

If you would still like to support, it’s not too late! We close at midday today and we could still win additional prizes for exceeding our target - the top prize is £3000!

Whether you’ve donated, shared with your networks, or engaged with our LinkedIn posts: From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you.

Special thanks to our incredible match funders Forsters LLP and Julia Rausing Trust, we're so grateful for your trust in our first Big Give appeal and for your relentless support of our services. In a landscape where women and girls charities get less than 2% of funding, your choice to stand behind us is so valuable.
