This Week is Dementia Action Week.
Many families are impacted by dementia, and Grace remains committed to providing patience, understanding and compassionate support for those living with memory challenges.
Through structured routines, warm relationships and inclusive activities, we help create a safe and reassuring environment for all.
One of the ways we support our clients is by ensuring that singing and music are regularly included within our activities programme — something Grace does particularly well. Music often brings joy, comfort and connection, even for individuals experiencing significant memory loss.
Research has shown that singing can help improve mood, reduce anxiety, encourage social interaction and stimulate memory recall for people living with dementia. The Alzheimer's Society states that singing can improve wellbeing, brain activity and mood, while also helping people feel more connected and supported. Studies have also found that group singing can positively support memory, relationships and emotional wellbeing for both people with dementia and their carers.
At Grace, we continue to use meaningful activities such as singing to help create moments of happiness, familiarity and togetherness for our clients.
