We are super excited to let you know that Javiera Limari, the Chilean artist that we helped with a grant from Alan MacDonald Fund, started her residency at Studio 12 this week and they are planning a couple of free public events around her residency.
BOMBÓN ASESINO — RESIDENCY AT STUDIO 12
We’re thrilled to announce Javiera Limari (Bombón Asesino) as the second artist selected for A Door to Experimentation, our two‑week experimental sound residency at Studio 12.
Javiera is a Chilean multidisciplinary artist, curator, educator and researcher based in London. She is a mother, textile artist, and advocate for migrants and refugees. She is also a founding member, singer and güiro player of Imperio Bamba, a band blending traditional chicha with psychedelic sounds, and currently works as Curator of Creative Learning at The Mosaic Rooms.

Families and carers are invited to revisit childhood songs that feel safe and comforting — songs sung to you, or songs you’ve sung to children in your life. We’ll explore how the voice alone can create intimacy and care, beginning with Víctor Jara’s Luchín. Participants will also mark‑make and collage on blank canvases, and share a song that feels like home.

ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
A Door to Experimentation brings together three emerging artists as they expand their folk music practices through experimental sound‑making. Under the mentorship of Patricia Doors, artists explore new approaches to sound, performance and storytelling.
