Small charities like Miracles / Feed London will always struggle to be heard. So to be welcomed and supported by a world-famous organisation like Liberty feels genuinely extraordinary.
Three years ago, Liberty told us that Feed London had been chosen as their charity partner for 2023. It was overwhelming news — not only because it meant a year of support for our fledgling project, but because they immediately understood the power of a simple idea: that fresh food, practical help and dignity can make a real difference to London families facing poverty and crisis.
They also understood what makes small charities powerful. We work close to the communities we serve, respond quickly, and deliver practical support directly to families who need it most. That closeness to the people we support is a large part of what makes our work effective.
Just a month ago, over a pot of tea in Liberty’s delightful first-floor café, the wonderful team there — led by Alice McDonald, General Counsel and Director of CSR, and Stacey Pham Allcott, Head of CSR — told me they would like to support us for another year, making it four consecutive years of partnership.
Over that time, Liberty’s support will have helped us reach more than 3,700 London families facing significant poverty, food poverty and crisis — supporting over 9,250 children, delivering more than 88,000 meals, over £210,000 in supermarket vouchers, and thousands of wonderful donated treats and activities, including books, games and Christmas gifts from Liberty.
Liberty is full of some of the kindest and most generous people I have had the pleasure to work with.
From all the families they have supported — and will continue to support this year — thank you. Thank you for caring enough to make such a difference.
If you find yourself at the top of Regent Street, do drop into Liberty — head up to the café, and over a pot of tea take a moment to reflect on the difference they are making in the lives of local London families. xx
