URGENT CALL FOR ACTION: MINISTER WIKE’S BEHAVIOUR AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR NATIONAL SECURITY
The incident of November 11, 2025, involving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, requires urgent attention and a firm response. His public altercation and verbal attack on a uniformed officer of the Nigerian Armed Forces go far beyond an issue of personal misconduct — it raises serious concerns about respect for authority, discipline, and the stability of our national security institutions.
A minister publicly confronting or disrespecting a military officer in uniform undermines the nation’s command structure and sends a troubling message to both the ranks and the public. It not only challenges the authority of the Commander-in-Chief but also weakens the morale of the men and women who serve under the Nigerian flag. Such behaviour, if unchecked, can damage the very foundation of discipline and respect upon which our Armed Forces depend.
This is not a matter for political debate or partisan interpretation. It is a direct affront to the principles that safeguard our national unity and security. Actions of this nature must not be trivialized or ignored.
Therefore, Barrister Nyesom Wike should immediately issue an open and unreserved apology to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and the officer involved in the incident.
Nigeria’s security and institutional integrity must always come before personal ego or political ambition. It is time to protect the honour of our military and reinforce the values that hold our nation together.
