The Separated Child Foundation

The Separated Child Foundation Registered charity which supports separated children in practical ways Imagine having to flee your homeland because of war, terror or persecution.

Imagine being a child or young person. Imagine not having your parents with you because they were killed before you left or were unable to leave. Imagine arriving in a strange country, seeking asylum, completely alone. Imagine having absolutely nothing. Separated children and young people experience the double trauma of separation not only from their homeland, culture and natural environment but a

lso from the adults in their family who gave them care. The Separated Child Foundation offers practical, emotional and social support to separated children and young people in Britain up to the age of 21. It also engages in educational activities that raise awareness of the needs of separated children and encourage positive responses to them.

"In my experience, most asylum seekers either want to catch up on their lost education... or they want jobs. They want to work and they want to make a contribution. And those are very simple human requests."

We're sharing a powerful and important read from one of our Patrons, Lord Alf Dubs. Lord Dubs, who arrived in the UK as a child refugee on the Kindertransport, speaks with compassion and clarity about what is at stake for separated children and young people under the proposed immigration changes.

At The Separated Child Foundation we see every day what security and stability mean to an unaccompanied child arriving in this country alone. Uncertainty doesn't just affect legal status, it affects a child's ability to learn, to connect with their community, and to build a future. We believe that all children deserve protection, consistency, and the chance to belong.

Caring about children’s rights means caring about the rights of every child.

That's why, with over 140 other charities and organisations supporting children, we are urging the Prime Minister to put the welfare and rights of children at the heart of asylum and migration policy.

It was a 'five star' day out for the young people from our Bournemouth Club Class recently, with a thrilling go karting experience and group lunch. One of the group said "Absolutely perfect, it's best day for me!!!" What a review. 🧡

Days out and special experiences are a key element of our Club Class programme, giving young people the chance to try new things, develop friendships and have fun.

Thanks as ever to our youth workers and Club Class partner International Care Network for making it happen. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

A huge shout-out to our friends at In Kind Direct for such swift delivery of 240 top quality wash bags to go in our welcome packs for separated children.

Thanks to In Kind Direct's mission to reduce hygiene poverty we were able to acquire these brand new wash bags at a fraction of their retail value. A win for us and a win for the planet! 🌎

Many thanks to our brilliant volunteers, including our friends from MCGI United Kingdom and Isle of Man, for prepping and packing nearly 100 arrival packs for separated children today. 🧡

The team filled washbags, paired socks and gloves, and folded t-shirts and towels before putting together the final packs, which will be given to young refugees arriving in the UK alone.

The packs will offer comfort, warmth and dignity when separated children need it most.
