Here's what Margaret had to say1

"I’m thrilled to share that I was elected unopposed at the Labour Group’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday (28/04/25) to be the next Mayor of Enfield.
The official inauguration will take place at the full Council AGM on Wednesday, 14th May, where I hope to have the full support of the Council.

What does CVFL mean and who we are!

'Caribbean'
When we say 'Caribbean,' we’re talking about the vibrant people, cultures, and communities that make this region so unique. Our focus is on empowering individuals from Caribbean backgrounds, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs addressed within the Labour movement.
The term encompasses the geographic region and the diverse identities, challenges, and experiences of Caribbean communities living both within and outside the region.
We’re dedicated to tackling the unique challenges that Caribbean communities face, whether it’s economic, social, or political. We aim to ensure their stories and struggles are heard and acted upon.

'Voices'
'Voices' represents Caribbean communities' powerful stories, dreams, and challenges. We’re here to amplify those voices, ensuring they’re heard loud and clear in every social justice and equality conversation.
The organisation focuses on creating platforms for open dialogue, allowing Caribbean communities to share their experiences, concerns, and aspirations. By amplifying these voices, Caribbean Voices for Labour aims to ensure that Caribbean perspectives are heard, respected, and valued in social justice, equality, and policy-making conversations. It signifies the organisation's mission to elevate Caribbean narratives and ensure representation in discussions that impact their lives, thereby fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

'For'
In the Caribbean Voices for Labour context, 'For' is at the heart of everything we do—standing up for the rights, interests, and well-being of Caribbean communities. We’re here to advocate, support, and represent, ensuring that no Caribbean voice goes unheard in our Caribbean communities
within the broader Labour movement.
The term emphasises our dedication to working on behalf of Caribbean people to ensure their voices are heard, their challenges are addressed, and their contributions are recognised. "For" represents a proactive stance in promoting social justice, inclusivity, and equality, aiming to create a Labour movement that truly serves and reflects the diverse Caribbean communities it seeks to empower.
