Katherine Low Settlement At the heart of Battersea since 1924. We are a much-loved, busy charity that has been at the heart of the community in Battersea, London, since 1924.

We work to reduce poverty and isolation and bring the community together. Our core programmes support older people, children, young people and their families from refugee backgrounds and newly-arrived adults learning English: over 500 people a week visit our building. We campaign for social change and we partner with other charities and communities to help them to thrive in the wider community. It’s all go at Katherine Low!

Could you use your financial skills to strengthen your local community?

We're looking for a new Treasurer Trustee to join Katherine Low Settlement.

For over 100 years, KLS has worked alongside local people in Battersea. Today we support older people, refugee and newly arrived children, young people and families, while helping more than 30 local organisations thrive from our community centre.

This voluntary role takes around 4–8 hours a month and is a fantastic opportunity to use your financial experience to make a real difference.

You don't need previous trustee experience—we're looking for someone with financial confidence, sound judgement and a passion for community.

We're looking for a new Treasurer Trustee to join our Board.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with financial experience to use their skills to support one of Battersea's longest-established charities.

Every year, KLS supports more than 1,000 local people through services for older people, refugee and newly arrived children, young people and families, while providing a home to other local charities and community groups.

If you're passionate about community and can bring financial insight and strategic thinking, we'd love to hear from you.

What a fantastic Refugee Week celebration! 🌍🧡

We welcomed over 60 members, volunteers, and staff for a wonderful picnic filled with dance, face painting, great food, theatre and lots of smiles.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special and to Wandsworth Council for supporting the event.

One student had been coming to class for weeks but rarely spoke in English.

Then another student guessed the wrong word. And she corrected them. She knew it all along. She just needed the space to feel safe enough to say it.

That is what the Conversation Club is for.

Sarah has been volunteering at KLS since January 2025, supporting adults from refugee backgrounds to build confidence in English. She came to us while studying for her teaching qualification. She is still here.

"Every young person has a mental list of adults who think they're interesting, funny, clever and important. I just want to be one more adult on that list."

Brigid has been volunteering at KLS Senior Club for nearly five years. She helps 11 to 13 year olds with maths homework, gets beaten at chess on a regular basis, and was recently recognised with a Jack Petchey Foundation Leadership Award for her work.

She says the award was not really the point. Showing up every week is the point.

It has been a brilliant Volunteers Week. If any of this sounds like something you would want to be part of, we would love to hear from you.
