The UK does have a 2‑tier tax system. A pay‑what‑you‑want deal for the super‑rich & a make‑up‑the‑gap deal for everyone else. But Reform don’t have a plan to fix it.
This policy just distracts from their billionaire backers by pitting low‑paid workers against each other.
Even taking the policy on its own terms, sectors with a higher density of migrant employment— like health and social care, crucial to a well-functioning society— have plenty of issues that take precedence before employers' National Insurance contributions.
This policy design shows a total lack of knowledge about how taxation can fix the real problems facing businesses and people. Given recent events, this sort of rhetoric is also irresponsible and puts people across the UK in real danger.
Anyone genuinely interested in improving lives should be talking about tackling inequality by taxing extreme wealth, to unlock £billions in investment to create jobs, support growth, build affordable housing, improve infrastructure & get on with delivering on what matters.
