"Whether voters can impose costs on the super-rich once their fortunes are big enough to shape the political process is now an open question. That alone should trouble any democracy."

Wealth inequality is the defining issue of our time. It is at the heart of, and preventing us tackling, the cost of living crisis, the climate crisis & the democratic crisis. Burnham must make it his priority.

Rewriting national & international tax systems, so that they stop deepening inequality, is key. Mega-corporations and the meg-rich must finally be made to pay their fair share.

Public cash going to the best‑connected— regardless of questionable value, ethics & tax practices— is leaving us short‑changed financially & morally.
