A BIG SHOUT OUT to everyone that came out to support us at our' I scream for ice cream' event yesterday.

The weather was great with a big turnout from our ever supportive local community. Delicious food was on offer and there was a lively, fun atmosphere where we danced all afternoon.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU to our staff, clients, dedicated Bede volunteers and corporate volunteers from North Standard. An amazing team effort ensured that the day ran smoothly and everyone had an amazing afternoon. To top it all, we also raised over a whopping £1,000!

IGVA, Southwark, SE London

Salary: £30,248.40 FTE, rising with experience

Location: Southwark

Hours: 35hrs/week. Jobholders work with colleagues to cover core service hours of 8:00 am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Be part of something new. Be a voice. Build change.
We are recruiting motivated, value-driven advocates to join a new, innovative community-based Gender-Based Abuse service in Southwark. This is not a traditional domestic abuse role, you will support people of all genders affected by gender-based abuse and help shape a service built around prevention, creativity, and community voice. The ethos of the service is to ensure that we are front facing and out in the community to meet clients in spaces that are safe and accessible, as well as our offices.

The Role
You will work directly with people in community settings, carrying out risk and needs assessments, creating safety plans, and using trauma-informed and coaching approaches. You’ll be part of a fast-paced, dynamic team working in new and flexible ways.

The role will have a strong focus on working with individuals impacted by sexual abuse and VAWG. As this is a community-based role, candidates will need to be flexible, confident working across different settings, and have an engaging and approachable personality.

Southwark is one of London’s most vibrant and culturally diverse boroughs. We are committed to building a workforce that reflects the communities we serve and particularly welcome applications from people from Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic communities.

If you are looking for a role where you can make a meaningful difference, build partnerships and support people affected by gender-based abuse, we would love to hear from you.

About You
We’re looking for people who are:

- Confident, reliable, and proactive
- Creative, solutions-focused, and adaptable
- Strong at building rapport
- Comfortable engaging with young people and diverse communities
- Flexible in their approach and passionate about working within community settings
- Comfortable delivering presentations, training and awareness sessions
- Skilled at building relationships with people from diverse communities
- Experience in VAWG, domestic abuse, sexual violence, safeguarding, or working with young people is helpful, but your mindset, values, and reliability matter most. Full training and support will be provided.

If you want purpose, challenge, and the chance to help build something new, this role is for you.

Job Advert: VAWG Service Coordinator
Extended closing date to: Friday 7th August 2026

Be part of something new while building on over 85 years of community impact.

Are you highly organised, compassionate and thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same?

This is an exciting opportunity to join Bede Starfish as we deliver the Women's Safety Alliance (WSA), Southwark's newly commissioned Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) service. Working alongside specialist partners, the WSA provides co-ordinated, trauma-informed support to women, children, young people, families and male victims affected by domestic abuse, sexual violence and other forms of VAWG.

While the Women's Safety Alliance is a newly commissioned service, you'll be joining Bede, a trusted Southwark charity that has been supporting local communities since 1938. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape and grow an innovative service from the very beginning while being part of an organisation with over 85 years of experience supporting local people.

As our VAWG Service Co-ordinator, you'll be at the heart of a busy, fast-paced frontline service. You'll be the first point of contact for many clients and professionals, ensuring people receive a welcoming, professional and trauma-informed response from the moment they reach out for support.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. Alongside co-ordinating referrals, appointments and waiting lists, you'll have opportunities to attend community events, partnership meetings and networking forums across Southwark, helping to strengthen relationships and raise awareness of the Women's Safety Alliance within the local community.

What We Offer

• Apprenticeship and professional development opportunities.

• Ongoing training and career progression.

• Supportive and passionate team environment.

• Opportunity to shape and develop a new and innovative service.

• Meaningful work that makes a difference to the lives of women, children, and families.

Please note: This is a fully office-based role in Southwark. Due to the nature of the service and the importance of face-to-face collaboration with colleagues, clients and partner agencies, this role is not hybrid or remote working.

A job description and application form is available at https://bedehouse.org.uk/what-we-do/jobs-at-bede/ Please include a cover letter explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification.

Closing to applications: Midnight, Friday 7th August 2026

Interview date: Monday 24th August 2026

Start date: ASAP

On the day, all candidates will be required to complete a 30-minute written assessment and computer literacy test.
