We've signed up for this year's Backup Tech Village Fete on 9 July 2026. Now in its 12th year, this brilliant charity event for the UK's live events industry is heading somewhere new, relocating up north to a bigger venue - Whilton Mill Karting Circuit, Daventry with more space and even more ambition, while keeping all the charm that makes it such a special day. We'll be throwing ourselves into the spirit of things — quite literally, as we've signed up for the axe throwing! 🪓

Led by Suzanne Mau-Asam and Nadine Pertsch from Doors Open - Institute for Corporate Sociology, this session is based on 20+ years of global learning and development experience.

What can you expect?
Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z... we are often told that generations think, work, and communicate fundamentally differently. But how much of that is actually true?

In this session, we will explore the realities behind generational differences and why "box thinking" can sometimes create more friction than understanding. Drawing on insights from corporate sociology, we will examine how workplace context, industry culture, and communication habits shape behaviour across age groups.

Together, we will explore practical ways to bridge differences in expectations, communication styles, and ways of working. The goal is always the same: helping teams move from assumptions and frustration to stronger collaboration, connection, and performance.

Our GM - Hannah visited PLASA Leeds last week - what a great day!

Backup - The Technical Entertainment Charity delivered a brilliant session on health and financial resilience for freelancers. They're also actively looking for new ways to support the freelance community through webinars, information and projects. If you've got ideas, get in touch with them! 💡

The Power of Events also had two fantastic sessions - their school engagement programme and a really thoughtful succession planning seminar hosted by Bryan Raven, exploring how those stepping away from the industry can continue to contribute through mentorship and advice.

Thanks to the PLASA team for another brilliant show and to both Back Up Tech and Power of Events for delivering such valuable sessions. See you at the next one! 👋
