• Rachel Reeves is pumping money into arms companies while punishing sick and disabled people.

It is utterly abhorrent that this government is punishing sick and disabled people whilst rewarding companies that are complicit in war crimes and the gravest violations of international law. We should be promoting welfare, not warfare, and ensuring there is real and meaningful security for the most vulnerable people in society.

The companies that will reap the benefits of this announcement include those complicit in the genocide Israel is committing in Gaza. The market value of arms companies in the UK has soared over the past three years, as their shareholders profit from war. These companies should be held accountable for their appalling breaches of international law not emboldened to profit even further from the devastation they cause.

• Israel systematically tortures, abuses, and neglects thousands of Palestinians in its brutal prison system – and this week, that inhumane treatment killed a Palestinian child. 17-year-old Walid Khaled Abdullah Ahmad was taken from his family home in the middle of the night, and was held captive without trial for 6 months.

Like all children, Walid should have grown up in freedom and safety. Instead, Israel held him captive for months under the same unjust conditions as adults – just as it has hundreds and hundreds of Palestinian children for decades. That should outrage us all.

We must all speak out against Israel’s inhumane treatment of Palestinian children so that no other child suffers Walid’s fate. This cannot go on.

• “Snow White” star Rachel Zegler is refusing to back down on Palestine advocacy despite attacks and pressure from Disney.

“Snow White” cost a reported $270 million for Disney to produce, and the film is not expected to turn a profit after relatively low box office returns in its opening weekend.

Some criticism by U.S. media against the film – and blame for its performance – has largely focused on Zegler’s pro-Palestinian activism. Zegler voiced support for a “free Palestine” in a single post on X.

But critics have largely ignored a massive boycott campaign against the film over its Israeli costar, Gal Gadot, a former soldier in the Israeli military.

Gadot has repeatedly voiced support for Israel’s actions during its genocide in Gaza, which has killed over 50,000 Palestinians, and promoted screenings of a film about October 7’s Hamas attacks that was produced by the Israeli military.

Kifeya Khraim from the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counseling (WCLAC), a Palestinian NGO, testified at the UN Commission of Inquiry hearing about Palestinian women facing systematic sexual violence and intimidation by Israeli forces, including threats to remain silent after abuse.

She described cases of sexual violence at checkpoints and during Israeli home invasions, where women were forced to strip and perform humiliating acts in front of soldiers.

Khraim also highlighted how the lack of knowledge and legal definitions makes it difficult for women to identify sexual violence. “We have women telling us that inspection devices were inserted inside them without being able to identify that as r**e or sexual violence.”

As Business Secretary, Reynolds grants the licenses for continued arms exports to Israel despite its ongoing genocide against Palestinians. This includes refusing to halt the export of parts for F-35 fighter jets, a decision being challenged in court in May.

📣 Reynolds plans to give a speech on global trade at establishment think tank Chatham House at 11am but we say no business as usual for genocide enablers!

Insurance giants protect and enable companies driving the destruction of our planet, the Zionist genocidal project in Palestine, and the border detention industry to continue doing business. Without insurance, these complicit companies – like Elbit Systems, Maersk, BP, and Serco, to name only a few – would be unable to operate.

Through this model, Israeli arms firms are able to make a killing through the apartheid and genocidal system which Palestinians are subjected to. The profits made then feedback into developing and testing the next killing machine, feeding an industry built on the destruction of Palestine.
