The Chinese Welfare Trust was established in 2008, a national charity bringing together service providers and stakeholders to provide and improve services to Chinese communities across the UK. Our main priority is to address the housing needs of 8,500 Chinese elders, many of whom are isolated, lonely, and having difficulties communicating with the mainstream services.

Nearly half of unpaid carers feel their role is not understood and valued by their community.

Today we launch our Building Carer Friendly Communities report. It explores carers’ experiences and sets out the action needed, by the Government and by communities across the UK, to bring about greater recognition and support for unpaid carers.

Today is International Nurses' Day. In the UK, nurses are as diversified as they come. Definitely something to celebrate! The UK Chinese communities are very fortunate to have their own Cantonese and Mandarin speaking Admiral Nurse Dementia Clinic, a now permanent service first experimented as a two-year pilot co-managed by CWT and Dementia UK. After a year-long maternity leave taken by our very first Admiral Nurse Emily, the Clinic will soon be relaunched and she will be joined by the second Chinese-speaking Admiral Nurse Kay. More details on the relaunch will be publicised soon, so watch this space!

We helped more people of Chinese heritage register with GP practices with Chinese-speaking staff in Westminster during the final outreach event at Charing Cross Library last week. Thanks to the support from the Library team, as well as our partners at Healthcare Central London, West End & Marylebone Primary Care Network and Covent Garden Medical Practice. You guys are amazing! See you all at the Chinatown outdoor event on 20 March as we try to reach a wider audience.✌️
