🌟 VICTORY FOR THE RAINFOREST! We surpassed our target! 🌟

Wow.

When we launched Big Give’s Earth Raise campaign last week, we had a bold goal. We asked you to help us double donations to fight back against UK forest aid cuts.

You didn’t just meet the challenge - you exceeded it! 🚀

Thanks to hundreds of generous supporters like you, our match fund was fully utilised, meaning every single eligible pound donated was doubled.
💷 £10 became £20.
💷 £500 became £1,000.
💷 Thousands of pounds became tens of thousands for Indigenous and forest community land rights.

This isn’t just about hitting a number. It’s about what this money does:
🌳 Securing land titles for communities.
🛡️ Protecting vital biodiversity.
✊ Standing up against deforestation when government aid is falling short.

To our amazing community: Thank you. Your generosity in this final push ensured that not a single pound of match funding was left on the table. You showed up when it mattered most.

Let’s keep this momentum going. The forests need us every day, not just during match weeks.

⚠️ Important Warning: The match fund is a fixed pot of money and will close at midday on Wednesday 29th April.

We don’t want you to miss this chance to make your support count for TWICE as much. With UK aid cuts threatening forest communities, every matched pound is vital.

🚨 URGENT UPDATE: We are halfway through our Big Give Earth Raise campaign!

Huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Because of you, we’ve already doubled thousands of pounds for rainforest protection. 🌍💚

But we still really need you: The match fund is a fixed pot of money and will close at midday on the 29th April. We need you to reach our target of £60,000 of precious funding for local and Indigenous communities.

⏳ Only 4 DAYS left!

We don’t want you to miss your chance to double your donation. Whether it’s £10 or £1,000, your gift counts for twice as much right now.

🌍 THIS EARTH DAY: Your donation goes TWICE as far, starting NOW!

Today marks the start of the Big Give Earth Raise, and Rainforest Foundation UK is ready to fight back against forest aid cuts with double the power.

For the next 7 days (until 29th April), a coalition of major donors is matching every single gift we receive.

✅ £50 becomes £100
✅ £500 becomes £1,000
✅ £2,000 becomes £4,000

Why is this critical? Government funding for overseas forest protection is being slashed. This match fund allows us to fight back against the gaps that this leaves, ensuring Indigenous and local communities in the Congo Basin and Peruvian Amazon have the support and resources to protect their lands.

⏳ Important: The match fund is limited. It operates on a first-come, first-served basis. If we reach the cap early, the match ends sooner.

If you are not in a position to give, please share this post to let your friends know - every share helps us reach our target faster. 🌳💚

🚨 UK Forest Aid is Facing Severe Cuts. But We Have a Plan.

The UK government has confirmed drastic reductions to overseas forest aid. This threatens not just trees, but the millions of Indigenous and local communities who protect them. It also threatens our global climate stability.

And we refuse to sit in silence. 🌍✨

This Earth Day (April 22nd), Rainforest Foundation UK is fighting back with a special match funding appeal, with the Big Give. For a limited time, every pound you give will be doubled, maximising your support exactly when it’s needed most.

💡 Save the date and keep your eyes peeled for when the campaign goes live 👀

🌿 156 Observers. 500,000 Hectares Protected. Real Justice Served.

In the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, Indigenous communities are turning the tide against illegal mining.

Our partner Federación Nativa del Río Madre de Dios y Afluentes (FENAMAD) has expanded their network of forest observers to cover 30 communities across Madre de Dios. These aren’t just reports sitting on a shelf; they are catalysts for action.

In 2025 alone:
✅ 42 alerts sent via ForestLink.
✅ 18 alerts confirmed as illegal mining or deforestation.
✅ 3 legal complaints filed → All 3 accepted for investigation.
✅ 5 government raids conducted, destroying illegal mining machinery.

But the danger is real. Illegal mining gangs are becoming more violent. In some areas, 70% of community land has been scarred by mining. Observers face armed groups and many leaders now require state protection just for speaking up.

That’s why we’re doubling down on safety. We’re helping communities create threat maps, develop new risk-reporting tools and strengthen their legal defense.

This is what happens when Indigenous leadership meets technology and legal support. But to keep this shield up against powerful criminal networks, we need continued support and sustained funding.

🎥 Jemimah’s Fight: How One Woman Reclaimed Her Land in Kenya

The video linked below tells the moving story of Jemimah Oronga, whose land rights were threatened when her husband married a second wife and attempted to leave her with nothing. Her struggle is not unique; across Kenya, widows and wives often face dispossession by their own families. But Jemimah found a way to fight back. ✊

Thanks to Haki Ardhi ('Land Justice'), women like Jemimah now have a safe, anonymous way to report land abuses via SMS or in-person visits. This groundbreaking initiative, created by Rainforest Foundation UK, TMG Think Tank, Shibuye Community Health Workers and Kenya Land Alliance (KLA) (with funding from BMZ, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development), is bridging the gap between survivors and justice.

How it works:
📱 Women report abuses securely.
⚖️ Local experts provide immediate legal and psychosocial support.
📊 Data is used to push for national policy changes.

The results are transforming communities. Women are winning their cases and becoming leaders who encourage others to speak up.

We’ve also released a Haki Ardhi Handbook to help other organizations replicate this success! 📘The handbook and full news story can be found here - https://www.rainforestfoundationuk.org/haki-ardhi-transforming-how-women-in-kenya-claim-their-land-rights/

🌍 The UK government has said it clearly: rainforest collapse is a national security threat.

A new government assessment warns that global biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse will push up food and energy prices, destabilise economies and fuel conflict — with real impacts for people in the UK.

Forests are central to this crisis. They protect biodiversity, regulate climate and support millions of Indigenous and local communities, yet they continue to be destroyed, including through UK trade and finance.

The NGO Forest Coalition is calling on the UK government to act now:
✔️ Implement the Environment Act without further delay
✔️ End imports linked to deforestation
✔️ Stop UK finance driving forest loss
✔️ Protect the rights of forest communities

Protecting forests protects people, and all of our shared future. 🌳
